I believe only short and easy-to-remember domain names are sustainable, regardless of where in the world you live and which cultural background you come from.

Now that the Chinese domain market has become a hot topic, I myself want to understand this trend too. Is there any real meaning behind each domain name sold in China? Here, I'd like to share with you what I've found as I read the Chinese news everyday.

GZX.com
GZX can stand for 更自信 (even more self-confident) which can be used in many fields such as education, self-help, and even consumer products to raise your self image.

XLY.com
XLY can stand for 夏令营 (summer camp) or 新领域 (new field) which can be used in recreation and high-tech products.

I don't understand why there are still successful Internet startups using domain names not matching exactly their brand names. For example, today's news story talks about a leading company in the pet industry which just received more than $100m funding. Its brand name is 波奇网 (BoQiWang) but the domain name they use is BoQii.com. Here are two issues: one being the absence of "wang" and the other being the extra "i" in the domain name. I think they should consider acquiring BoQi.com (parked) or BoQiWang.com (apparently owned by a Chinese investor).

The first Chinese IDN geo .广东 (GuangDong) just entered its sunrise period. According to Wikipedia, GuangDong is the largest province in China with a population of 106 millions. It also leads in GDP per province as well. So it'll be interesting to see if this geo extension can succeed.

互动百科(Hudong Baike meaning interactive encyclopedia) shows that companies should really spend time in determining their brand name as well as domain name. Hudong Baike started out as encyclopedia + news + social networking service in China. Since 2015 when it was founded, the company has changed its domain name 3 times: HooDong.com to HuDong.com and finally to Baike.com. I think the problem is that the company name has 4 Pinyin words. In the beginning they used HooDong or HuDong to correspond to the first two words, but somehow decided to emphasize the last two words lately, hence Baike. The company still has a problem - it's brand name does not exactly match its domain name.
I own Boqin!, unfortunately it's in .org ext. P.s thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge in your threads with us.

Just want to share with you..., I believe 86 is the area code for china, so a little over a year ago I aquired 86realestate.com:) realestate is such a long word that I think 86 being short and relevant coupled with realestate may resonate positively with internet users in china?

Well said. We really live in a "short" world: shortened distance, shortened space, and shortened time. That's why Chinese companies love short domain names and short extensions. In this respect, I see great potential for super short ccTLD domain names to thrive in China as they have the shortest extensions possible.

Another evidence "short" is better. 来跑吧(Lai Pao Ba) operates its running-related services on LaiPao8.com, in doing so saves one character by not using "ba". Both 8 and "ba" sound the same in pronunciation. Well, that's what was reported. A whois search suggests the company may have failed to secure LaiPaoBa.com which is apparently owned by an individual person. LaiPaoBa means "let's run".

OK. I promise this will be the last example on going short. Search engine HaoSou.com has been upgraded to the much shorter So.com. So (搜) is a single-pin name meaning "search". So, today's lesson? Short, short, short for China!

Now let's move on to a different subject. KU6.com shows bright future of LLN.com in China where LL is also a single-pin name. 酷6(KU6) is a major video site and KU is a Pinyin word meaning "cool" or "strong". So, if you can add this special angle to your LLN.com acquisition, that means added value too.

Finally, this interview with entrepreneur/domain investor Yue DAI is worth reading several times. Here are my main takeaway: (1) His launch of investor cafe chain on China.vc extension and personal investment in 5,000 .vc domain names suggest potential in China of ccTLDs in general and .vc in particular. (2) Lending on domain names is going mainstream, which will expand the domain market tremendously,

@Kassey Lee

I have been getting unusual interest on one of my 6N.com - 588 698.com.

I do realize that 588 means 'I will be rich' and it is great number at the start. Also, 98 is a strong ending.

What is the significance of the complete number? And what is the best way to sell it?

Thank you much in advance.

sup Gareth. Let me see if I'm learning this. 8 is of course lucky. Just found this here:
http://messagenote.com/feng-shui-2/chinese-numerology-good-or-bad-number

58 sounds the same as “sure to prosper”. add that extra 8 maybe becomes "Definitely Sure to Prosper?" lol

HZ just googled the pinyin comes out to all these possibilities.
HZ- Huòzhě- 或者
Meanings.

Translations of 或者

conjunction

or----或, 或者, 还是, 抑或, 要不, 抑
adverb

perhaps-----也许, 或许, 或者, 恐怕, 或, 许

possibly---或者, 或, 容许, 想必

peradventure------或者

so maybe 588HZ translates to "Definitely Sure to Prosper Possibly?" lol

lol I'm here all weeks folks!

oh Kassey here's a list I just registered over the weekend. Can you confirm which ones are correct? I used Google translator. for the translations.

It's wierd with the Pinyin Acronyms. by themselves they have good meanings. but as soon as you tack on the .COM it goes all haywire and the meanings get all wacky. Can you please comment on that "phenomena". I'm sure people on here experience the same thing and want to know what the heck is going on. Here's my list. Hope I did good if not at least they are 5L.com's

Thanks.

fdcrk.com (Without the .COM FDCRK means Real Estate People but as soon as you add the .COM it turns into RealEstatePopulation.com)

fdclz.com (Real estate executives .com)

fdcqg.com (Buying real estate .com)

fdcfr.com (Real estate boom.com)

zqxwx.com (I think accuracy .com) Starts with a Z always good I guess right?

qfdsk.com (Thinking hard .com)

qfdry.com (Hard-working people who .com)

qfdrh.com (Hardworking people .com)

zqwrq.com (The most authoritative popular .com)

wqszq.com (It is completely correct .com) (CompletelyCorrect.com)

wqzqx.com (Complete correctness .com)

wqzqn.com (Is omniscient .com)

wqrwd.com (I think .com)

wqrtd.com (Infinite as heaven and earth .com) (This one I'md really excited about. but is it correct?)

yqzsq.com (Do things together .com) (This could be perfect for a social networking site)

trzqk.com (with the .COM ends up as Investment and financing situation .com) (without the .COM it should read as Investment Financing)

trzkh.com (Customer Financing.com) (in store credit cards?)
trzxq.com (Investment and financing needs .com)

trzfh.com (Investment Summit .com)

trzsd.com (Minimum investment .com)

trzgh.com (Investment and financing plan .com)

zgtru.com translates in pinyin supposedly as Zǒnggòng tóurù (Chinese investment in .com) (ChinaInvestment.com) This was pure accident. in my search I was avoiding the A,I,U,O,E and the V but on this one I hit the U and this came out. How is this one possible? Basically ZG Stands for Zong Gong and T Stands for Tou but then Google figures out that RU stands for exactly just RU? lol I registered it anyways just because it sounded too good and there was no one around to ask. You never know if some sleepless Chinese person is registering domains all day and night and might land on this one. Soo is this one GOOD or no good?

In chinese it's pretty much sometimes "Anything GOES" like for example. BIZCN.com big company right? I know it stands for Business China but if you did the Pinyin acronym translation what do you get?

bizcn.com translates to (Nose to .com)

hahahahaha

Nose to? Nice business name for a huge Chinese company. hahahahaha

mgfzi.com (Buy a house.com)

prckf.com (PRC developed .com) PRC Development.com

ftdzi.com (Disciple of Buddha .com)

cnxnxs.com (From those female students .com)

xnxszg.com VR China.com

zxnxs.com (These female students .com)

any thoughts on possible meanings for 588HZ?
588 is naturally a good number, because it means:
588:我发发>I'm making making a fortune.

HZ can mean many things, including"
HZ:合租>Joint rent
HZ:孩子>Children
HZ:盒子>Box
HZ:护照>Passport
HZ:猴子>Monkey
HZ:杭州>Hang Zhou

I own Boqin!, unfortunately it's in .org ext. P.s thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge in your threads with us.
Boquin is not bad. You can use it to start an educational service.
Boqin:博勤>Knowledgeable and diligent

do these mean anything?
fqnx.com
rlqt.com
FQNX:
FQNX:风情女性>Flirtatious woman
FQNX:风情男性>Flirtatious man

It may work.

It consists of good numbers. For long numbers, I don't bother to find any meaning. Not many end users will go for it anyway. It's speculation game.

here's a list I just registered over the weekend. Can you confirm which ones are correct? I used Google translator. for the translations.
Too many to work on. If you include the Chinese characters, I'll take a quick look. Add: with 5L, with only few exceptions where the first two letters represent a city, I don't bother with finding any meaning because few end users will go for 5L.

Go through the below link...it will be helpful to understans chinese pinyin
https://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php?page=worddict&wdrst=0&wdqb=Izho

Thanks a lot. But I don't know why it does not give any results when I add multiple words together..

Example: 'yuming' means 'domain'.. 'gongju' means 'tools'

I look them up separately it gives the right result.

But when I check them same time whether I add spaces or not, it says
No results found searching for 'yu ming gong ju'
No results found searching for 'yuminggongju'
No results found searching for 'yuming gongju'

If I register 'yuminggongju.com' .. will it mean 'domaintools.com' or something else?

3-pin .com matching company name gone live
360 Group's new investment service provder NiCaiFu (你财富) launched on matching domain name NiCaiFu.com. The name means "your wealth". Despite being a 3-pin, this domain name has only 7 characters so it's easy to remember.
This is very helpful whereas we own Zudeche.com and eGegu.com Thank you.

Cow means hard working in China
2-pin HaoNiu.com sold for 6 figures CNY has gone live. As a personal investment site, the use of the name Hao Niu (好牛, good cow) is excellent as cow is deeply rooted in the Chinese culture and is associated with "hard working". Its equivalent acronym HN.com is a for-sale page in Chinese and should be very expensive to buy.

Pinyin+English word popular among top Internet firms
Le group upgraded its sports site from sports.letv.com to LeSports.com, choosing a name very similar to Alibaba's AliSports.com. Attention is now paid to another giant Wanda group to see whether it would purchase WadaSports.com which currently does not resolve. This shows common English words are acceptable to Chinese consumers.

IDN .com owned but redirects to ASCII .com
The news is about Karaoke app/social network ChangBa.com (唱吧, let's sing or singing bar) getting financial backing from TV celebrities, but it also mentions the company's ownership of the equivalent IDN 唱吧.com which currently simply redircts to ChangBa.com. In this example, IDN is not actively used.

LL .cn prices soaring from low 6 to high 6/7 figures CNY
JG.cn sold for 1.05m CNY. JG may mean:
JG:价格>Price
JG:坚果>Nut
JG:机关>Trick
JG:监管>Supervision
JG:酒馆>Tavern
JG:机构>Organization
JG:金刚>King Kong

LL .cn domain name prices have been rising from low 6 figures CNY in 2014 to currently high 6 or 7 figures CNY.

190.com top executive talks about future of domain market
Market is expanding from collector type to bulk purchase by investors, the latter one being much bigger than the former one.
re; The "sports" comment above-once again very helpful. We own laFutbol.com (Futbol.com sold for $1.7million usd last year) . We'll be contacting these companies. Thank you.

This question has probably been asked before here on NP but what's the true opinion of the Chinese towards .net's? I mean I'm seen they take a liking to the exotics like .XYZ and .TOP and even .FYI but no one seems to be talking about .net's seems like the Chinese don't like .net's? or is it just me the newbie thinking this? I'd like some stats and historical examples please. If anyone wants to help out here too I'd appreciate it thanks.
