I regged 16 German keyword .pros as an experiment in Dec 07 but dropped almost all of them in December. I put them on Sedo to monitor traffic and interest and I got no traffic and no Sedo listing.

I don't think Pro works as well in German as it does in English. For example, "professional chef" in quotes has 514,000 Google unique references, "professional chefkoch" has 2. "Chef Pro" has 36,800 Google unique reference versus 70 for "Chefkoch Pro".

If you put in allinurl:pro.de into Google, most of the sites that come up are EnglishkeywordPro.de which leads me to think Pro works OK in Germany but only with an English keyword. 51% of Germans speak English.

I think you have more chance of selling Chefkoch.pro to Chefkoch.de because to register a German keyword with .us, they have a belt and braces approach to defensive registrations. I can't see anybody other than Chefkoch.de buying it. If I was a German chef or restauranteur, I'd want a .de, if I wanted to market overseas with a gTLD, I'd pick an English keyword.
