I noticed that i can change my name servers to my domain companys ip and then change the a-record to my server. Does this provide anonymity? If someone was 'looking' for me would be easier to find me through my hosting company rather than the domain company? Is it a good practice to do this?

Yes, you can use the default nameservers of your domain registrar and add the A record, MX record etc of your hosting company's which provides anonymity. Using this it will display the nameservers of your domain registrar and shows the A record of your hosting company.

Only your web hosting company can provide you all information regarding nameservers or information about A record. Then on your domain name registrar you will be able to do such changes

this will be workingin the most of the cases as a medium user dont know much beyond name server..but a person by tracking your site ip and identify your host easily..no matter how you hide it..

Or use your registrar DNS servers, if possible and add these records:

@ A [ip-here]
* A [ip-here]
www A [ip-here]

This method is easier if you decide to change hosting company in the future. You only have to change the ip.

I still don't understand how much privacy does it give you? Can people easily find out who you are based on who your host is?
