I know it is a hyphened domain, but I thought it had two strong words. The google search comes up with more than 1,000,000 results. I would really appreciate some of the more experienced NP'ers appraisals as to a $ value.

Hi Alan,

Great sector, but the hypen greatly limits the value.

And if developed, some traffic would be sent to the non-hyphenated counterpart.

It thus would be hard to find a buyer.

Also, the non-hyphenated counterpart is not developed, so they probably would not want it.

With all of this in mind, I do not see much value in domain.

Thanks so much for the very useful review. Rep added. This is the type of feedback a newb like me needs to grow. The points you make are very valid and are things that never even crossed my mind. All I saw was two stong words and acted before I thought it all out.

That being said, would the name have some value as a parked domain or maybe a developed adsense CPC site? Some of the numbers I found today after reading your post:

Per Estibot search of cellular-telephones,com:
PPC Ads:85
Overture/month: 5,281,099
Wordtracker/day: 55

and Google's Adwords traffic estimator show an estimate of between 11,000 & 14,000 clicks/day just using the keywords Cell Phones and Cellular.

Maybe I am just grasping at straws, but I am trying to learn and welcome any additional insight. I guess for the time being I will just park the site and see what, if any, traffic it draws.

Have to agree that the hyphen pretty much limits its value. I would be very surprised if you got any type-in traffic (they would have to type cellular-telephone.com exactly) so parking probably isnt worth it.
Making a mini-site might give you a small amount of traffic - perhaps enough to cover the reg. fee and a little more. You can use adsense or affiliate ads.
Major development and marketing would be needed to make significant money IMO.

Thanks for the comments. (Rep added) I am sure both of you are correct. Each day/domain I register has been a learning process. Now I wish I hadn't regged the other three hyphened domains. Oh well, live and learn.

When i started out, i read everything i could and then sampled, one name per. For example one typo, one hyphenated, one .net and so on.
Everyone starts with huge enthusiasm, just try to rein it in a bit as you learn. it is natural to make mistakes when you start and even when experienced, you just make them less often
