Recently I checked many domains, and I am very surprised how some generic domains are owned by the right companies, yet those domains resolve nowhere .. they are not redirected, nor any minimal site.

Will just give some examples:

Retire.com - a perfect domain, huh?
It's owned by Fidelity Investments. Fidelity Investments also owns fmr.com and it point nowhere too.

Merchant.com
Owned by Authorize.net. They are perfect end users for this domain, yet it points to nowhere.

Allergies.com
Owned by Glaxo Smith Kline, one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies. Yet it resolves nowhere, however I think that this domain gets many targeted uniques.

Did you fin similar domains? List them here.

End users don't understand domainers and domainers don't understand end users, lol.

It's juts a viscious cycle.

some domain owners have no idea there is a thing called domain parking..
i know a LLL.com owner who only parked his domain this year after so many years of renewing.. he said he just knew such thing existed..

Yes, they should at least go to their main sites, but at the very least they
have managed to keep these great domains out of the hands of their competitors. Right?

For these kind of domains parking isn't really a solution, because they don't care for little money while advertising their competition.

What they should make is a quick webpage stating what the topic is, and that company x is committed in delivering the best service. They have employees for that. 2 or 3 working days? If not, contract a company. The cost would surely be below the benefit.

And while they don't do this, just redirect the domain! They spend money on expensive advertising, while wasting many potential customers...

do you think Glaxo Smith Kline cares how much it is "losing" without parking it?
it can be a good ammount for us, not for them... i know it is profit even it is $x,xxx per year if the name were parked

the point is there are companies already noticed the potential of generic names and developed them while others dont and these are the cases here... thats why they are losing money because there are many people that could be visiting their sites when they search for a generic term but they go nowhere
