Hi,

Recently I have just received an email that someone wants to purchase the website CampusGrind.com (www.campusgrind.com).

I don't know what the selling price for a site like CampusGrind.com is. How much would any of you spend on a website like CampusGrind.com or would you know how much this kind of website is worth.

It's currently making very little money and is in the process of being marketed. I've worked on this website for 3 years now. It's been online now for 1.5 years.

This website does have potential. It has numerous amounts of features. The problem is that not too many people know about the website.

If it were to be marketed well enough, this site can be a pioneer.

Some more features include:
AutoFill of textbook information when putting in an ISBN.
Automatic inclusion to Froogle.

In mid-December, the site is being marketed at Harvard University as well as some other schools.

Currently there are 666 members with 100-300 unique visitors a day, but this is on the rise.

It's all a matter of marketing, work, and time.

Also, CampusGrind.com is unique from Orkut and RateMyProfessor.
Orkut is a community of trusted friends and RateMyProfessor - you rate your professors.

CampusGrind allows you to sell textbooks and have them shipped or meetup on campus, as well as almost anything. The main features are listed on the front page.

CampusGrind is similar to FaceBook, but also has it's differences. Take tribe.net and craigslist for example. Both sites are similar and classified ads sites, but what makes both of them differ is the community tribe.net has.

This website does have potential. The problem is that not too many people know about the website.

I could write a script that would be better in every respect than eBay for example.

POTENTIALLY the site would be worth more than eBay,
but REALISTICLY without members & traffic it is just a script.

Potential is just that, a posibility. Every idea has potintial. The majority of them never reach that potential. Anyone who buys something based on potintial is a fool. The only thing that matters is current results.

This is a nice site with a great name, but at this point in it's life it's value would be in the range of $1k - $2k. There is very little revenue or traffic to speak of. Keep the site and build it up. In the long run, you'll be glad you did.

I'm going to bump this one. If I'ev offended the anti-bumpers or easily-offended, too bad.

Just wanted to know the status of this one, since the original thread is a few months old. I do like the site and have offered to do promotional and programming work on the site, but have heard nothing since the original response. I'd be interested in the site as well, but I want to get an update.
