Not much yet.. Indian market is too nascent and still under developed.. Only about 500k .in names registered so far..

There are plenty of good names still out there..Till they are gone, won't go up that much.. The 3 letter names could be purchased at reg. fee till end of last year..

Also even in India, internet means .com .. I don't see any traffic on my .in names although my .com of the same extensions get over 100k visitors. Even have been promoting and indexing the .in name.. Yet very little success..

i dun agree with iamneo, in Indian Market people Looking for .in Domains Now. i was working in a Web development company in Hyderabad, India. The Maximum Clients were asking for .in Domain Registration. So, .in Gonna Rock Soon!!
if you've a good name in your Bag, you'll get a Good Amount for your domain for SURE! :imho:

medschools.in - Ah! A good one which suits India quite a lot. The short-form "med" might decrease the value a tad but still overall around low $xx.

arrai.in (thought it has some meaning in Hindu...not sure on that though) - it is an exclamation of surprise in Hindi. Think of it as the equivalent of "Oh!" in Hindi.
Again, low $xx

I'd rather not comment on the 4L and 3L .ins as I don't have much of experience with them.

Why do you think .in cut the fees to 3.69 from 12.69? They were fizzling out big time. The "RATE" at which the domains were being registered fell over the
last year until they cut the price.

If .in was popular or becoming popular why do you guys get so little traffic?
Has the traffic increased immensely or spiked over the last year?

NONE of my clients in India want to touch .IN names.. Atleast not yet.. All my real estate clients wanted .com names for their projects in US and India. They didn't even want to register the .IN name although it was less than 4 bucks.

Also, the Indian registry is planning to start launching more domains in local languages. This will further increase the choices & change the way domains are being used.

It looks like no one wants to listed to a rationale experienced guy. Everyone wants to hear their domain is worth gazillion dollars..

.in's pricing going to increase from 8th of April tht's what i come to know.

May be .in's don't get the traffic but still the number of sales have increased.

So far people are just coming in terms with .in's as all bigger companies are going with .in

I think it would take another 6 to 8 months where you would be suprised to see more and more people into .in's and .co.in's

Your names are OK names for development purposes, but almost worthless as investment names

Hehehe.. Guess you read the memo on how tons of .IN names expired in May 2007 due to the 2 year sunrise registrations not renewing the names from FEB 2005 (after the initial 2 year reg. + grace period)..

INREGISTRY had to start offering promotions so the market will jump start again.. They are trying.. The problem is EVERYONE has a .COM email address and are so used to .com. So, .IN will not become popular unless the INREGISTRY gets its act together.

Another example. a web 2.0 popular portal BURRP has BURRP .COM, but they didn't even bother registering BURRP .IN .. some guy just registered it couple of weeks ago.

I can give you many examples of web 2.0 companies not even touching the .IN while registering the .COM name and these are million dollar companies.. Perhaps not a smart thing.. But shows, most don't even care about the .IN .. Atleast not yet..

Your LLL.in have some value -- though sale prices have varied widely. I would value yours at around $20/each.

I think .in names would be more valuable if they are either meaningful in English or at least in some Indian language (hindi,punjabi,bengali and other popular ones). Basically a domain name is for "representing" a site's purpose or a company's name/trademark/short form etc. I don't understand the "forced branding" of lll.in and llll.in names (and even .com names), when they need some brain draining to get "something" out of those short forms. Although with so many languages being spoken in India, some or the other short form would be matching with some real names, but it would be then limited by the "English alphabets" combinations.


@Mike Your domain names seem quite meaningful though. akd.in and oxu.in can really do good in the time to come. Can't say about others.

@Barefoottech .in market is not "dead". It would be an overstatement to say that. Why? because, we predict something to be dead only when it has no chance of living again. But this is not true in case of .in and any other region specific domain extensions my dear. Its just a beginning of various countrymen taking interest in this web market. There is yet many things to be explored. Its about awareness and not about survivability. When people will be "knowing" the purpose of these extensions, traffic will be reaching them.

arrai has no meaning in Hindi..but it can be a short form for an Indian name..e.g. a.r. rai..."rai" is a caste/surname in India in almost every region and religion. A and R can be used for first and middle names..

flightschools can be taken by our politicians who are planning to organize flight schools..

Medschools.in - feel free to PM me an offer. I've been considering selling, but have no distinct plans - it all depends on the offer.

Technologycenter.in could be a big one of i find a company that is actually building or promoting an office park or something similar.

I said that in positive..
Because I am not sure when they will be taking that. Its not at all against any law..Its your name and you can offer them for sure..There are already many popular flight schools in India and as far as I know, few more would be developed with in a short period of time (these things are done on some politicians birthday etc..lol)..much luck with them!! will be messaging you about medschools when needed.

Good thing with flightschools is that the language of Pilots is English, which makes sense with the domain ... somewhat.

Maybe i should consider development...
