Buying traffic?

Has anyone here had experience buying traffic before?

What have your expereinces been like? I'm sure there are plenty of fakers and rogues out there, but are there also any genuine ones?

If you are looking to boost you Alexa rank then go for it, but other then that it is useless untargeted traffic that will just load your server and eat your resources for no good reason.

what about redirected/expired domain traffic from related sites? If niche and Geo targeted isn't it worth having?

most of them are jun traffic ..make sure u dont waste ur money on bot traffic

Agree with nuco6, most of them are just junk.

Most used method, for these "traffic sellers", is include some hidden iframes into very visited webpages (usually porn, i.e.), that's the "traffic". Obviously no alexa rank increased, no clicks, no REAL visits.

I'm sure there are few sites selling genuine traffic, like some ad networks, but it always depends by the reasons you want to buy traffic.
If you want more visibility to your product, i.e., buying some ads on ad networks (adbrite, clicksor, even adsense if you're ready to pay a lot or if you have a very niche product site) could be a good choice.
But if you just want more clicks on your parked domains or similar things...well, it's prohibited by all the parking companies (and google), so you will be banned from them and with no revenues on your domains....

Best choice is try to develop minisites, building backlinks through article marketing and/or social networking, and just... wait.

yeah. i tried it. it was a waste of money

it didn't lead to any adsense clicks and there was a high turnover rate, so it's not like it was good for backlinks either

a better approach would be to buy links

but if your sites only make money with adsense, its inefficient

Regarding buying traffic:

All the points brought up here are very good in terms of overloading your server, wasting space, etc.

Also keep in mind that if you get a few clicks from bought traffic you'll be fine, but if you start to get them on mass your advertisers will pick up the loss in conversion quality and may very well stop advertising with you.
