Hi again....

Whats your opinion on n00bs who buy for profit?

Personally they let the web down, theres so many websites that are just offline or are never going to be produced because people buy to sell without development.

Lets look at stockprices.com a site i seen mentioned a few days ago. Its got no development, theres a huge ammount of people that would type that in to get stock prices, and there led to somthing that looks like a SE.

Befor i was into the domain scene, i used to land on these sites that were parked at sedo, goldkey ect. and i used to think 'Why put a search engine on it'? Theres millions out there that dont know what these pages are, and normal people browsing the net get put off by these sites.

To end the case on my note, theres alot of cluttered sites on the internet, im estimting that more then 10% of the Billions of websites are just Parked Domains. and personally i think it spoils the WWW.

Whats your views on this?

While I have about 200 domains, I only have about 3 of them developed. I have plans to develop many more of my domains, but it takes time and resources. I would agree that people should aim to develop their pages, however, does it matter much if they are just putting up crummy mini-sites that really have no value? Putting up a medium sized website like www.vip.cc took quite a bit of work and continues to be work. Even if I worked full time on all of my domains trying to develop them during the year like i have with www.vip.cc, I probably only could get about 20 domains fully developed.

I really don't have a problem with people buying domains for profit. They want to buy domains with their money so let them do what they want to do.

Buying a domain for loss is pointless.

So true... While you may sustain a loss, most people are buying domains either as long-term investments or to turn a short-term profit.

I believe its each persons own business to do whatever they want (abiding by all Laws) with their domains and it is no one elses business what they do with them. One of the biggest problems on the planet IMO People minding other peoples business when it is none of their concern and does not affect them in anyway. If you like stockprices.com so much make a fair offer and make it into the site you dream about. IMO

I'd like to have an office building downtown but unfortunately someone already owns it and rents it out for an astronomical amount of money.

they are like the coin collectors, they do not do anything to the coins, they just collect them, which is OK.

Like it is said everyone have a novel in them, it could also be said everyone has a website in them. People new to domain names often do not realise how easy it is to design a webpage. When I attended webdesign class every student found they could design a basic webpage within 20 minutes of their first class.

BTW I'm no N00b as you eloquently put it and I can think atleast a few hundred others who aren't either which all have profit in mind in some form or fashion. If I were rich enough to not make money and give away domains for free I would. Unfortunately thats not the case.

I think most of the people in the domain market who register Domain Names or trade DNs have most of them undeveloped.
That is perfectly natural in the Domain Name market.
Trading developed domains or, to better say, Websites, it is a different kind of market and definitively another kind of business, even if in some case it is parallel to the DN market.

I will not feed this discussion any more, youve all totally missed the point to what i was saying.

I used the example stockprices.com simply because its a site ALOT! of people would try to use, but its not there. People on the outside, who dont know what a holding page is, or know nothing about domains, would think 'WHATS GOING ON HERE'?

I just think, if people cant develop and have no interest in developing whats the point in buying them? You might aswell go gamble your money away, you have a better chance of winning in my opinion.

People can do what they want, im no god, and i have no say in what people do, but the question was 'whats your views on this huge waste of space on the internet', becuase thats all it is.

Sorry if ive upset anyone but alot of you responded in an aggresive way, totally not needed on a forum like this.

The difefrence comes when valueing the asset. An undeveloped domain is a relatively simple thing to value for a buyer - "what's it worth to me". A developed website can bring in other factors such as earnings, profits, debt, brand and profile, all factors that need to be taken into account.

Hi D4U, Nobody is attacking you or your post i don`t think.:tu:
Why buy baseball cards? why buy stock? It`s all agamble, isn`t life a gamble? People still Smoke, and Drink and Drive ect., and they know it will or could kill them. This is just another way to invest without the expence( buying DN and not building sites) It is just like buying land, as an investor your looking to someday sell to a developer that will build on it. I may have the money to buy the land for 100k, but not the money or knowhow to build on it. We are just on a smaller scale.
Good Post!

Because there are people that have names they will never develop that make from $1 to $1000 a day that would be the reason the guy who is selling cellphones.com makes $1300 a day. People like Adam Dicker(DNF) and FranK Schilling( NAME ADMINISTRATION) make thousands every day. No offense if you don't understand why to buy names that you don't develop you really need to learn this business. IMO

I totally agree, lets all go beat up on that guy that bought some empty land in downtown and just put up a parking lot there. Shouldn't a really nice building be sitting there!!!

Putting up a parking page on a domain works in the same way.

By the way, if your looking for stock prices, and stockprices.com doesnt have it, just do a google search you'll find tons of info.
