What would you look for in a domain?

I have two domains I am looking at for a new site at the moment, one is xxxmusicband.com and the other is xxxbandz.com.

The first is more memorable and the second is more brandable (as people may forget the 'z')

The site will be prevalently aimed at teenagers and young adults so, any thoughts?

Yes, find a better domain. Im sorry, but neither one of these domain names would cut it if I were developing it. There are better ones out there, even just a cheap aftermarket domain would be much better....

Good luck,
Justin

The "xxx" stands for another word, it's not literally "xxx".
Those are the best two I could come up with, all other decent keywords were taken.

Agree with Spade. The first one is three words (too long) and the latter is a typo. Neither are ideal.

I'd either keep hunting or try and pick up a reasonably priced domain on the aftermarket.

I'm a developer myself and know how much hard work it takes to make a great site. You owe it to yourself to get a good name, and I think you will have more passion and confidence for the project if you know you have a better domain to work with. Ultimately finding a great name is 50% the success of a website IMO.

Actually, one other thing about paying good money for a domain is that it commits you to some serious work. You dont want to waste the investment so invariably you make a proper go of it.

I figured as much. However, there are only a handful of keywords that may work in that case... Im still in favor of finding another domain.

Agree with what others have said. You should do a keyword search on TDNAM. I'm sure you'll find a better name, maybe in the $5-$100 range. Also checkout Sedo and Afternic.

If its for a teen market then go with brandabilty.

To address the question you asked: I would go with memorability.. However, as moped pointed out brandability may work better in this case for teens, young adults. I think ...bandz may become memorable as well as brandable. Hope I helped and did not create more confusion as I am still not sure which way I would go in this case ;) Good Luck
