I bought the domain name Offertrading.com last year when I got involved with making money by doing offer trading and like most home businesses I stopped doing the offers and I still have the name.

For whatever reason I am having a mental block on what to do with this name.
Some thoughts are:

1. Try to make a free site for people to trade offers on (I don’t have any website classified software)
2. Create a free classified website (again I just don’t have any classified software)
3. Create some kind of site about stock trading info and try to profit from affiliate marketing ( I just have had very little luck in the past with affiliate marketing)

I don’t know guess I am just looking for some kind of fresh thoughts or ideas and wanted to use some of my free time and put something on this domain name. Maybe I am completely thinking of things all wrong.

Do you have a set budget for this project?

Basically, how much are you able to invest right now and how much can you invest monthly until you actually profit?

Also, how long can you maintain your monthly investment without making a profit?

This is the most basic info I or anyone else would need to help you brainstorm some ideas.

Well if you are going to start something about stocks and make money off the affiliate programs then you will need lots of content as well as proper SEO to get some decent traffic.

If you are going to do classifieds stuff then finding a script for it is not that hard. You might need to modify it a bit or add some other features on it so you have something better then all the other classified sites out there. Here also you will need SEO and Marketing to get it rolling.

Thanks.

Affiliate, make money, internet marketing, seo, these are very competitive niche, you should think twice before starting.

Here is a crazy idea....why not just start a forum! There are a lot of free forum software out there that you can easily edit and have up and running in no time. You will need to know a lot on the subject or maybe team up with someone who knows more than you. As ProSence rightfully stated, its highly competitive niche so you should have no problem in obtaining people who are interested in the topic and willing to part take on the forums. You just need to have the motivation and you can get this done in no time. As always, you will need to do your due diligence for SEO and marketing purposes but this should be a no brainer if you were already a part of it all

Oh I couldn't agree more. A forum is a great idea for your domain. You can always start a blog with any domain but it will take time and a lot of effort before you can see decent traffic and outcome. A forum is great because people will naturally sign up if it's something that really interests them.

Good luck on your forum!

Sorry for not seeing all these sooner. Lots of thought here...

Sorry for not seeing all these sooner for some reason the notice emails went to my spam box.

@ flishess, as far as budget goes I am a 42 year old stay at home dad so budget really does not exist in my vocabulary but I do have many hours in the day to put towards something like this. I know you can spend the bank and become almost an instant success over night. I also know with the right information and the time to do it a person can get a site up and running fairly quickly. Maybe not overnight but if one starts today then in 6 months things could be rolling pretty well.

I know very little about SEO, let me rephrase that I know I have read a lot about SEO and I know a lot about SEO from someone else’s opinion that may or may not have worked or it worked 2 years ago but now is old news. I know there has to be more than 100,000 eBooks for sale on “The Best SEO Plan”. But I have yet to come across anything that one could call the Bible or the “Real SEO Plan” with step by step instructions. Now after saying all that I personally have had some good luck with the domains I have done my own SEO (didn’t want to list the domain names here since some people feel like that’s taking advantage of promoting your own work etc…) and with more practice or finding someone to help get some guidance from I am sure I can make the SEO work a lot better than what I have done in the past.

@-Nick- @ProSence @cpoalmighty @OmSabr @zidane

Thank for you for taking the time to add to all this.

I agree a forum is a great idea and I have set up a couple in the past. Most failed for whatever reason and most of the reasons were my own fault I’m sure. Now I did have one up for over a year and it was a paid membership (Adult Swinger Site, 180k unique hits first year with over 750k page loads). Just became too much drama and complete headache with member ship upgrade since no one will let you process CC payments for adult content unless you pay them through the nose for it plus all their upfront deposits etc… (Remember I am a stay at home dad, lol).

My point being I do have some experience in setting up and running a forum from the backend.

My concerns and issues are adult content is easy to get their attention in my opinion from the experience I had. So take a site like this one http://www.moneymakingdiscussions.com/forum/ .

This site has only been up since September 2012 it looks like to me and has only had 188 posts since. Not counting this month the site has been up roughly 8 months, that’s 240 days. In the last 240 days there has only been 188 posts (this number does include the site owner/forum manager post as well) that’s less than 2 posts a day. Now maybe I’m a jerk or I expect more from a website but to me those numbers = FAIL…

If I were to turn my domain I am asking about into a forum of sorts it might not look exactly the same as this one but pretty close as far as the main topics and sub topics etc…

So how could someone have a site like this and get more interaction from the visitors and/or members?

I also Google “Making Money Forums” and the above site showed up on page 2 and 4th in the list. Not the best place to be but respectable in my opinion…

According to the Google keyword tool (Yes I know some people hate this tool and some swear by it) the phrase “Making Money Forums” is searched 8,100 times a month on broad search and 75 times a month on exact. I just wanted to throw this in to have some kind of a gauge for those who like the Google Keyword tool, don’t really mean anything.

Again Sorry for the delay in responding back and sorry this got long winded...

ashman...you have years of experience which could benefit a forum such as this. You can also enlist others of your similar traits to assist in building the forum quickly. A forum is only as successful and you would like it to me. It must include threads and sub threads people can relate to for that industry. It must also include off topic threads which will attract people who are interested in learning about the subject but just cannot post about it as yet. Do not strictly create threads that match the forum or else you may only have "prefessionals" posting with novices just sitting back and waiting for the right moment. Create an environment where all can partake and be comfortable doing so!

Good Luck to you!
