You say this, but this is why I saw potential. I think this trade is dying, so it is harder and harder to find blacksmiths nowadays. I think I will make get a directory type site on there, with perhaps a sort of tutorial section as well. I think the fact that its becoming a 'lost art' will make the site all the more of a valuable 'niche'.

I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to value these 2 domains but would have thought blacksmiths.info would be worth more than $xx.

There are many blacksmiths with websites. Some that offer weekend courses such as : http://www.cjblacksmiths.co.uk/.
You could create a directory of Blacksmiths asking each business for a description? Free content. ;)
