The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Verisign gives Discount only for registration (com/net)to domain partners. For example, if you increase your domain number size by 10%, they have campaigns such as I will give you a 20% discount for each new domain reg. Companies pay money for transfer discounts and renew discounts from own capital.

Yes. However, if you gain enough domain registrations by funding discounts on transfers out of pocket you will be able to negotiated better pricing and terms at verisign once you surpass a certain threshold.

This results in a higher profit on 'regular' registrations and renewals. The math works, depending on a registrars current size and expected growth.

At the end of the day, it's all about money. A registrars isn't giving a discount because they like us. They are giving discounts to attract business and make money, negotiate better terms with the registry.

Be careful with this registrar. According to their documentation:
https://www.names.co.uk/support/articles/transfer-a-domain-away-from-names-co-uk/

This registrar charges an additional fee for domain transfer out.
Quote: ...paying attention to the fact that there is a £10 + VAT administration fee...

I'm not holding my breath as the deals haven't really been good in the last couple of years. I mean who cares about deals for registrations? It's not like any domainers have a list of 1000 domains they are about to register (that's not even possible for the simple reason of - if you find an available name you like, you have to register it right away else someone else will as I confirmed once again through my own experience just a few days ago). So unless there are TRANSFER or RENEWAL deals....
