Seeing the recent rage in the LLLL.com industry left me wondering whether the appreciation of these LLLL.coms was here to stay or would it subside.
Right now, I believe LLLL.coms appreciate 30 % per week, I obviously realize that sustenance of this appreciation is impossible.

Experts predict that the price of any LLLL.com will be $100 by the end of March but is there any possibility of the price depreciating?
I know I sound pessimistic but would it be advisable to sell our domains while prices are at their peak or hold on to them waiting for the price to increase even more?

Given the trend of LLL.com domains, people say that the minimum value of a 4L.com domain shall soon be $6500/26 but I feel that is unrealistic as they are two altogether different commodities.

Please voice your opinions about this in the thread.

I would sell all those 4llll.com's and invest in generics.

I think that it's still best to hold; their appreciation should continue.

However the recent boom may well be over temporarily. A few months ago you could get a bad LLLL.com for reg fee, now you'd need to pay $40. This means that prices have risen by around 450% in a matter of months.

Hence I think that there will be a bit of a lull in sales, due to this huge price appreciation, although prices will still continue to rise (just not in-line with Zmbabwean price levels ;))

best time to sell:

1) if you need money and have no other easy way to get it

2) if you find a better investment opportunity

3) if you find an end user offering you a good price

short of that, really no point in trying to time this market - too many variables, too many unknowns.

People who are of the "technical analysis" persuasion (especially popular in trading derivatives and commodities markets) might be inclined to ride their winners all the way to the peak and then slightly over (because that's the best way to know it was actually a peak rather than just a plateau - in retrospect) ... but then have to be ready to pull the trigger without regrets. That's difficult for most people to do, especially (IMO) when domains are involved - seems easier to get attached to a nice LLLL.com more than your average futures contract.

Also keep in mind likely end user prices - if reseller prices spike due to newbie speculators overbuying, and go beyond 50% of what you'd expect an end user to pay - well ... unless you want to make that end user sale yourself, maybe better to sell at that level, as it may not last forever in the reseller market.
