Best Php Portal (Free)

[Splinter Freelance]

I am looking to find the best free php based portal system for an article, news, discussion community.

-It must be easily modified and installed
-Must be able to add custom modules
-Some way of defining different areas for different member groups
-It needs to have a banner rotation system

Joomla actually substitute Mambo if I am not wrong.
I have used Mambo until rel 4.25 and now I am using Joomla.
A lot of modules, a lot of templates, Highly configurable. Higly recommended.

Absolutely Joomla. Most of the existing Mambo components and/or modules work in joomla as well.

joomla def. It was the same people who made mambo but they made joomla better to rival mambo.

just making sure you know, joomla is a mod'ed version of mabo so if you copare then you might not notic much diffrance
