Hi there,

One common problem I have with my web designs is finding a professional looking font for logos and banners etc. Nothing fancy, just professional looking.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend any fonts or name those they use most frequently?

Cheers,

Richard

i have that problem too, its hard to get the font to properly match the design.... im not sure of specific fonts but www.dafont.com is good for a categorised collection of fonts, it may make it a little easier to find an appropriate font

I could give you a whole list of fonts that I think look professional, but, at the end of the day, it all comes down to your opinion. Take about an hour to just browse through a large font site (I find www.dafont.com to be the best around) and find some decent fonts.

Get some ones that are out of the ordinary too, trust me, you just never know when you will need them ;)

Well, good luck and I hope you find some nice ones, there are lots out there, so just keep searching.

Sites such as flashkit.com have a wide variety of fonts, however, it isn't as well categorized as dafont.com. For logos I wouldn't recommend either site, due to the lack of originality, but for a banner both sites are applicable.

However, I would most definitely recommend using 3d rendering programs, such as Maya or Bryce to render text. While it does take a bit to learn the tricks of the program, it's indefinitely useful.

Times New Roman, Tahoma, Verdana.

For some reason, I think Times New Roman looks horrible when making text art. It reminds me of MS word. *shiver*.

Impact is good, also on dafont.com go to the "San Serif" catagory. There are some nice simple fonts that look professional.

Impact is good for logos, at 18px and larger, with just a little gradient (if its blue. make it blue to a slightly darker blue)

I use Tahoma, Arial, and Verdana most of the times since they look professional. I get alot of my fonts from FontFiles.

yeah, in agreement with admans: theres no "best looking fonts" it all depends on the design of what the font is for, fonts may look great for one thing, but lame for another
