From my experience both AVG and AntiVir are both good ones to use. I prefer both of them over Norton AntiVirus which is paid.

Saran Wrap

Using free anti-virus is like using plastic Saran Wrap as a condom. What will happen to your life if it fails? For me, I don't want someone to have my baby, which in my case, is my domain portfolio.

I recommend Kaspersky.com for your anti-virus needs.

Such a colorful analogy. A simple "free is bad. paid is good" would've worked :p

Avast works for me. Make sure you also check with your employer, school, isp, etc. to see if they offer paid AV software for free.

I would tend to agree with homebuyer, both AVG and Avast are good, i have used both myself. However you will not get the protection that you do from a paid product.

I would recommended NOD32. Cheap, not at all a resource hog and is easy to manage.

Although common sense is the best anti-virus, weight up your data value against the cost of a years anti-virus.

Kaspersky is great :) For free, get AVG

Kaspersky is probably the best AV software out there, hands down :) I've been through a ton of programs, tested and played around with them, but no program has matched the quality of Kaspersky.
