Hey,

I just regged this beauty. It was available! I could sell it to anyone who wanted to start a Sechyelles (those are some beautiful French islands) tourism site OR to someone from from South Carolina - they have Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Folly Beach etc. What do you think it's worth?

Thanks :)

Are you kidding me? Mid $xx for beaches.sc? The keyword is great and the extension fits the name perfectly.

No doubt the keyword is very attractive, yet the ext devalues it.

Mid $xx, not more, IMO

I don't think so. Did you read my original post? The Seychelles are what .sc was created for, and they are an island chain. Also, South Carolina has lots of beaches... .sc... just wondering if you considered this in your apprasial.

Thanks for the apprasials, but are you guys looking at the potential of a .South Carolina or .Seychelles? They both have tons of beaches... please post a reason for your apprasial so I can tell if you looked at the first post.

Thanks.

I hate to be a downer, but I have to agree with the others.Beaches is an excellent keyword but .sc nearly kills it automatically.
There's only 80,000 or so people in Seychelles, with only 10,000 or so who have internet access. Most of them probably haven't heard of .sc,let alone the rest of the world. They're just not a big player globally.
It would take development and promotion to get people to recognize .SC as South Carolina. It could be done though.
Also I have never seen a .SC domain sale on Sedo,Afternic,or DNjournal.Maybe there was some and I missed it.There's only 53 .SC names listed on Afternic, none with bids.Even Loan.sc has a minimum bid of just $100.
Maybe .SC will develop in the future, but I'd have to say very low $1XX for just about any premium .SC name right now.

Wow, thanks for the detailed post :)

The point was not to register a .source domain, but a .Seychelles or .Southcarolina domain. However, I see some value in beaches.sc, considering South Carolina's VERY popular beaches along the U.S. East Coast. Most .sc domains wouldn't mean anything, however. Do you think that I should hold on to this sucker? It's expensive at $50/year.

That's not what I understand as professional self-promotion, skyraider ;)
I myself own GSM.sc (bought it as "source") and I do believe that .SC might have a future.

Websites like WHOIS.sc are doing a great job at obtaining that goal ;)

I like your domain, why not start a beachcam or offer some nice wallpapers of exotic beaches ?

Good luck

No, I suppose that wouldn't be a very good example of self-promotion
:guilty:

Good ideas. Thanks for the opinions, everyone.
