BD Live Blue-Ray's New Interactive Capabilities...

Everyone knows that right now there is a big push on high definition DVD players and DVDs and quite possibly it will be the format to kill standard DVDs (still several years away). The Blue-Ray disc supporters spoke at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2006 about BD Live and are suppose to have live demonstrations in 2007. Basically you buy a Blue-Ray DVD player (that is BD Live compatible) and as long as the DVD is made for it, it checks online for updated content and downloads updates for your DVD right onto your Blue-Ray DVD player. It's live interactivity brought to DVDs. Right now only the PS3 has the capabilities of doing this and no movies have been made yet that do this, but the second half of 2007 is when there is suppose to be a big push for this.

Anyway I registered a few BD Live domains just speculating and was wondering what you guys think? I know the high definition DVD format war could get rough with HD DVD and Blue-Ray both being incompatible with each other. At the end there might be some kind of agreement between the two and there might be dual format machines made in the future (who knows?). I've been holding off on investing in high definition DVD domains because of the fact that know one knows the future, but this BD Live idea seems like a great thing.

What do you guys think about investing in high definition DVD related domains? I think 2007 will be a big year for the format whether positive or negative.

I heard commercial a few days ago which ended with "available on DVD and BLUE-RAY"

Don't know if it means much but an advertising push may be starting.

After reading a little more into it, that Video Business link actually has more information than the print article, I noticed HD DVD also has the capability. Personally I think Blue-Ray will be the winner of the format wars (of course still premature to make a real determination). Also Blue-Ray giving the interactivity part a name kind of adds to the hype for me.

I think if both formats are becoming mainstream, then consumer demand will require players to be compatible for both, if thats possible. It's like you buy a DVD player, even a cheap $25 model like I got is compatible with DVDs, CDs, MP3s, VCD, DIVX, and a bunch of other formats... Though it cant handle multiple regions (I HATE THAT). My wife bought me Brotherhood of the Wolf for christmas off Ebay and apparently it is a different region so I cant play it on my DVD player, why is this neccessary? Fortunately it played fine on my computer or I would have been irate :)

whether the blue ray win the format war, I am not sure if any domain names with the blue ray in it would be a good investment.

I personally think if there is no unification of the formats Blue-Ray will win. This BD Live thing might not be worth the money I put into it, but when you get the domain with the actual format name, it's worth waiting to see what happens. I didn't get any domains with extra words, just BD Live. I know it's a lot riskier taking a piece from a format that is still not the winner, but I guess I'll find out in the next year or two.

Hvd will be coming out within 6 months and it will take over the market--HVD can store over 100 times more then HDDVD and BLU-Ray---
Thats why i own HDHVD.com

I'm looking at info on HVD and they don't seem to have the same big backing as the other two formats. It's also still in development stage, it's not live yet. I'll keep an eye out for this format in the future though.
