I would give it a value of about $130 it a good domain and in the end the search engine will love it!

I'd give it mid XX undeveloped, mainly because of the extension and a short name (I like the sound of BankBoards - very easy to remember). With that said, developing it should yield you a much greater income - I'd consider offering people to post there in return for NP$ donations (seems to be a great way to kickstart any forum).

Sincerely,
George

Wow ... thanks for all the good ideas. I think I will definitely set it up now! I wasn't going to but now I will.....

Should I just have the site be a forum? Or should I have a main page that links to a forum? also, I probably will use phpBB because I like to modify phpBB to do things it doesn't do :) But I will check out the other packages.

Does anyone think something like this would fly? Also, if I were to set up the forum and offer namepros members NP$ for postings, how much per posting would it be? I don't have many NP$ so I'd have to buy some... but it would be a good investment I'd think....

Hey,

I can't really advise you on how to structure your forum with regards to how to structure the site. However, concerning paying people NP$ to post, I'd say 1-2NP$ per reply, 3-5NP$ per new thread and $6-10NP$ per registration is pretty reasonable. If you want a better idea, check out the NP$ Incentives forum here at NamePros - quite a few people are paying NP$ to have someone post on their forums, so that should give you a general feel for the price range you'll be looking at.

Also, a quick hint - when you stop paying people to post, most of them will leave. It's something you should be prepared for - if they come to enjoy your forum, so much the better, but chances are, they're in it for the money. However, the trick is to keep paying them for long enough for new non-paid members to think that there's enough activity on the forum to make it worth their time to join and post. It's like opening a new restaurant - the thing to do in your first week is get your family and friends in there and offer them free meals, just to give the impression that there's high demand for your service.

If you build it and populate it, they will come.

Sincerely,
George

Agreed .... I dont want publicity though ... I really just want a nice forum for talking about banks and investments, etc. I have reasons for it .... I hate banks cheating people over :)

Anyway, I dont mind paying... wondering if its better to pay people to post or to pay people to put it in their sigs...

I'd say better to pay per post - you'll be guaranteed to see some activity then. If you pay people to place it in their signatured, though, people will click on the link, see an empty forum and move on.

Yes, i dont think using phpbb boards for this theme of site is the way to go checkout SMF like suggested before hand alot more proffesional looking which is what you need in this case.
The domain is moderate not great not poor lifts in value as they both start with b's but board isnt a really typed in term for a forum these days.
But with anything exposure is they key.

Goodluck

Site is now developed with 30+ members, a custom SMF (implemented a "member points" system which they can redeem to do things, gambal points, donate their points to other members, etc.).

Site also has 300+ posts.

Can I get a re-appraisal for name with developed site? Thanks :)
