Hi , i am writing a book and in the book i have to use the term G'day but i have the choice between this and Gidday (both meaning hello)

or many years ago to be 'good day to you'

although happy to read an opinion from anywhere in the world i wondering what americans might say due to the fact the book is based in the usa

thanks in advance!

Not sure I've ever heard anyone say G'Day in the US. If it's an aussie character than g'day, Bruce's Bar and Grill, got some Shrimp on the Barbie :) I've never seen gidday but have often seen g'day - and I think it would be lower case.

If the character is American then choose something else like 'Top o' the Mornin' to Ya!' :)

to put things into perspective its about an american who visited australia and used the term upon returning, although i do think g'day is closer to the accepted grammar terminology i asked the question thinking once verbalized the term would be easily recognized

the word is at the beginning of spoken words inside quotation marks, thus the capitol letter

Yeah..I was going to say that the capitol G was simply force of habit at the beginning of a sentence/line/whatever. lol

Wish someone would fix your title up though.

In G'day... What gave it a good impact is the " ' ". ;)

You can use what you want. It depends on you but it is good to us G'day in my opinion.
