When I originally saw the Ategy.com domain on auction about 5 years ago it jumped out at me. As a brandable, Ategy.com hit me as I immediately automatically associated it with the word "strategy", plus being a unique pronounceable "word" with the added bonus of only being 5 characters and starting with the first letter of the alphabet. From the moment I got it I felt it was an amazing company name ... but I could be wrong .. lol

Estibot puts it at $300, obviously robot estimates aren't entirely accurate, although often it does give you an idea of the range .. but I think it's one of those cases where obviously there are too many incalculable factors involved.

The reason I'm asking about this domain is I've used it a bit as a business name over the years, but I'm not entrenched into it enough to give it up if it got me a nice payday. However, now as I look to get a little more serious in domaining and hopefully eventually online marketing in general, I need to measure the cost of keeping it, as opposed to selling it. I think my problem is that I like it too much personally to really give it an objective evaluation. So hopefully I can get some help here! :)

Note that my 2nd choice is to use is likely webmaster.info (would love feedback on this as well if you have time .. particularly if you think it'll actually be a better choice than ategy.com), and I'm also not ruling out using another domain.

Thanks to all who give a guesstimate value and/or feedback! :)

Ategy is an example of a "brandable" that is actually pretty good. Weak point is "the radio test." Nonetheless, worth somewhere between x,xxx and xx,xxxx, not just xxx. xx,xxx is of course the best case wish scenario. Would not be too attached myself and definitely let it go for a decent price. But if you really really want to keep and use, then of course do.

Webmaster.info is one of the few .info's I've ever seen that is definitely great. One of the best .info's I've ever seen.

In terms of the Radio Test .. I also own Ategie.com, so I'm not that concerned. Most importantly though, is how it related back to Strategy .. so I think (/hope) that helps a lot to get people to spell it properly. I'd say I was a little biased about the name because I own it .. but quite honestly, when I saw the domain listed in a sea of others it really stood out and I was like .. I really need to get this domain .. lol.

Extra bonus is that my first name also starts with A .. so the A logo has personal meaning as well .. lol

This is one of those rare case when I hope everyone puts it in the higher $x,xxx range but not above that .. as it means it's really good .. but I could still afford to keep it. But if someone offered me $60k it would take me 3 seconds to say yes and pay off some of my other debts ... lol. Even if I don't end up using it for domaining .. I would eventually like to get into other forms of online marketing, so I might use it more as an umbrella company name.

@Eric Lyon also pretty much told me exactly what I needed(/wanted) to hear (when I posted this a couple weeks ago in the biz forum) for me to now be at 99% for keeping it to use personally. I've got so many other domains to start selling that I'm getting more and more fine with keeping this one ... :)

Yeah thanks ... it's one of my better domains (of any extension). Do you have an approximate valuation you see it at?

While I don't see .info being that great after the flood of new gTLD's hitting the market, I definitely DO see on-context single key-term .info domains still being amazing IF they are keyterms that people naturally look for infomation on.

Oddly enough webmaster.info isn't even my best .info .. that honour belongs to what I think is probably far and away my best domain of any extension: DIET.info! ;)

I'm not a huge freak for the new gTLD's .. I think many of them are really bad ... HOWEVER .. like .info, I do think that if you can get short single key-term domains in context extensions then they can certainly have good value. I've snatched up a good number of short punchy single key-term .co's for the same reason. I figure these types of domains are the next best thing since I can't afford short solid single key-term .com's ... for now! ;)

No, you should be because that doesn't cut the mustard at all. If someone hears "ategy" they could think "atogy," "attagy," and a whole host of other ways. So the radio test is definitely shot. The plus, however, is that once a person actually sees the domain then it is extremely easy to remember and associate with "strategy."

Hard to put a $ on webmaster.info, but definitely at least $x,xxx. Though not sure you could find a buyer any time soon, low $xx,xxx is really also a reasonable value. Bottom line is that while .info doesn't inspire much interest it seems, "webmaster" is an exception. That could be used for a great site.

"Diet" is also an exception. Goes with "info" like few other words can, and also one of the best .info's I've ever seen. Would expect that one to much more easily be in the $xx,xxx zone.
