I am contemplating an offer on www.assurance.com. Any opinions on value would be greatly appreciated.

Strong name. Hope your offer is at least near mid- $xx,xxx.

That's a really swell name: 187,000,000 google results - 6506 OVT results, and some other pretty nice features like a market or catchphrase that nearly anything could work with or use.

Tell me, is the offer in 5 digits? If it is, you're probably good to go!

This should be in domain discussion forum if you don't own it at present.

With that said:
Life Insurance - in case something was to happen.
Life Assurance - for when it definitely doesn happen.

Definitely a great domain. :)

Definitley a great domain.
"Contemplating an offer" - I assume he has RECEIVED one, not thought about giving one?

Ok guys... SERIOUSLY! The offer is in the $60K to $70K offer. I mean, that is an awesome offer, BUT a lot of domainers are telling to hold out for xxx,xxx or develop it somehow and increase $$. About an equal number of colleauges are telling me to take it asap! Though I think I got a pretty portfolio (yes, this is the crown jewel) I'm NOT a dedicated domainer that knows how to optimize, seo? pay for what I think is called adsense, etc. This is a hobby to me. MY quandry, and please excuse the diatribe, but I need some advice from the seasoned blokes in a position to give educated advice. I usually listen to my dad and he says hold it, but... :-/

Great name, that I'm sure you'll get at least low $xxx, xxx for someday. :)

Was the offer 60 or 70? Yes it's important. As for accepting it, I would counter with 175 and accept an counter offer above 100 if I was looking for a sale. If I was not looking for a sale(I usually don't) I would figure out who I'm dealing with and then decide is if it was worth my time to push for more. This is without knowing the revenue and traffic, as I'm quite sure it receives some typeins form site like assurance.com.au and a few others. Although, I was quite surprised to see the overture with ext results to only be 135. I also agree with the others and Redleg, but as he inferred it could be a while.

Good luck with your negotiations,
Robert

Assurance is the French for insurance. Acutally this is a premium French domain.

I think that low $$$$$$ should be the target price for the domain. For 120K is would sell.
Is this an anonymous offer via Sedo or do you have some clues about the potential buyer ? The right end user might be a large insurance company like Axa.
It's a great domain but even with top domains it can take a long time before you get the compelling offer.
From my own experience the market for French names is not very strong/developped. It seems the French have yet to discover the power of domain branding and direct navigation. I would raise the stakes here.
You can still take the money and run, this would be good money but a bargain sale :imho:

take the offer if it is a serious one. that is a nice pot of cash. (BTW make buyer pay for escrow)

Sale didn't go through. I proposed getting updating a nearly 3 year old appraisal to establish a starting point and the potential buyer said he was no longer interested. Thanks for everyone's help. So, NOW that's it's not going to be sold, what are some ways to develop it and generate some revenue????
