domain Appraisal without reg

It's difficult (as a newbie) to determine which names may have value and which don't. Of course the tools available help, such as overture, estibot etc.

However, if I reg every name I think of I'd be broke..well broker..lol. I'd sometimes like to ask an opinion from someone who has more experience but hesitant to ask if I haven't reg'd the name yet. Any one know of any safe methods to get an opinion of names that haven't been reg'd?

Privately PM trusted members. That's the only way I can think off. I have some specific areas I'm OK at giving advice in and that's what some people do with me. I wouldn't reg it even if I knew it was a premium just cause I feel reputation is priceless compared to the value of a domain.

if you got an extremly good idea you can lose it just in the time it takes waiting for your mentor to write you back. better to perfect your ability to sense a good name from a bad name. try specializing in one area, like a hobby of yours.

if you don't know anyone in particular here, you can ask the moderators/staff they're the most helpful.

Register names at Dynadot or Moniker - I believe they both offer a grace period - 4 to 5 days. If you decide not to keep it in that time or make a mistake reg, you can delete it for full or close to full credit.
