Please use this as a template..that way we can just add on anything ELSE that is original and useful.

OP:

I just bought a .TV premium that has been available for 8 weeks for
$500.

What's it worth?

Pro-TVer:
That's easy, X,XXX potential to end user

Cautious-TVer:

Do you have development plans because don't see immediate use.

OP:
Yes! Yes! Yes!

Cautious-TVer:

Then X,XXX and good luck.

Non TVer:

Reg FEE

DefaultUser:
What you paid for it - and if you have development plans you (A) Don't need an appraisal and (B)It would be nice if you stated what they were.

It was not a premium name in the first place if it was available to register for 8 weeks. LOL.

Ok , that's a great attitude for NEWbies ... that will really pick up the place wont it :hehe: People BUY .TV domains for hard earned cash and they would like to share with you the experience of buying a "Premium" 8 week as you SIR might call it .TV domain name. Then you should just make a new section that will be called "Hey Im a new TV domainer, that thinks that this ext. is cool I have purchased this really cool domain for $2000 bucks, can you please tell me if its worth it?" or for short ... I want to "Brag" or whatever... Im surprised you even started this thread ... domaining is a "Way Of Life" and second a business for most ... its like tattoos ... they are always on the wall when you go into a shop ... but when they are on your BODY .. you REALLY like to "SHOW IT" right? RIGHT? Maybe not such a great comparison, but you get the picture! PRODUCTS.TV & PRODUCT.TV were there for 8 weeks and nobody bought them ... but they got shoes.tv for 18K right ... strange ... since products is every product ... including shoes ... but we live in a strange world.. in a strange business that nobody really knows about... go to your next door neighbor and try explaining to him/her that you just got a super .TV domain ... :yell::yell::yell: Yeah ... well ... nice try .. wont get you a date.. but she might think you have flipped since she wont know what the HELL your talking about... dont take the fun out of appraisals SIR!!! So its been there for 8 weeks ... SEX.COM was there for 8 years from 1985 ... so what??????

This wins my award for random post of the year. I can't even follow it. All I can say is that domains are in no way like tattoos.

My point was simply:

If you want an appraisal provide some information on what it is you are looking for.

We can provide new ideas for development.
We can appraise ideas for development.
We can appraise your ideas for end user potential.
Just an domainer to domainer appraisal is "what you paid".

More than anything I'm just frustrated by the constant "Regfee" from some followed immediately by the "hold onto this for a year and it will be worth thousands". It's a given that there are opinions that the market has peaked, is set for huge growth, or is about right. That's totally independent of the domain... hence not really a factor worth considering much because it's all speculation.

For what it's worth - I think the market will grow for 1-2 years and then suffer a HUGE fall. I have *my* reasons.

Bottom line - appraisals should be more interesting than ... here's what I regged today.

Posting a name that you just picked up from a list at a fixed premium, or that was regfee.. is likely worth just that and should be evaluated as such without the benefit of knowing what "insight" you have brought to the fore. I could say I registered GloopyDroopy.tv and everyone could go "Huh?" - but if I knew there was a new IP2TV technology that was non Trademarked that was going to be named GloopyDroopy then we've all got something to consider....

if you just hand regged a domain and are excited then post it in the your best hand reg of the day.

No one has to but I for one am frequenting the appraisal forum less and less because, quite frankly, it becomes boring when it's just ... here's what I regged today. I may as well create a sub-forum on "this is what I bought at the supermarket"

If we can have appraisal requests ASSUMING the OP then I think we can all have much more interesting feedback... even though it appears a lot of people already don't care about this section given the drop in responses.

If you felt this was targeted at you. It wasn't at all.

8 weeks - for those who knew about it. I think many end-users still don't know.

but i agree that the most desired names have been already grabbed by domainers.

Thanks for the "Award"

It was just 4 in the morning when I was writing ...
But the idea is the same ...
Let's just split the "appraisal" into sections ...

Thought of funny, nice, brandable e.t.c. name ...
Caught (expired) a domain ...
Purchased (from buyer - auction) a keyword domain ...
Regged a REG FEE regular keyword ...
Regged a Premium keyword ...

e.t.c...

You see where this is going?
Nobody wants to post in the "Hand Regged" 100 page thread...
They want to be unique and special just like everybody else...
Just like the guy who got france.tv or d.tv...

And regarding this ext. "falling" somehow in the next 2 years ... I'm not going to give you 1000 reasons why IT WONT FALL ... I would just like to hear a few of yours as is to why it will???

:-/

All in due time. I think I was asleep when I was writing this. I said 1-2 years and I meant 3-5 years +. I've posted some of my reasoning before. 1-2 is a little too keen.

With regards to wanting attention. I guess you and others should post where you want.

Beyond.TV was posted in both.
