I have been trying to get an appraisal for the domain name I am hoping to sell - socialjusticeforums.com.

I now wonder why the figures differ so much as I have had appraisals that range from $120 to $4300.

Is there anyone on this forum that can shed some light on this and perhaps give me a 'true' appraisal?

Thanks in anticipation.

Check out the Powerzone.com appraisal thread and my post #25 in that thread for elucidation on this subject. What happened with that domain name appraisal and later sale influenced me greatly. It is relevant to your situation with your domain name. But I'm not saying you can get what Powerzone.com fetched.

No one can give you a perfect appraisal, not even close. But whoever gave you the 4300 has some alterior motives if its a human appraisal. This is mid xx at best in my opinion.

On the topic of powerzone. I see alot of intelligent posts on that thread and it's not an example of an appraisal bomb at all!!. So people put it at high xxx (quick sale one said),low xxxx, one member had it's high end at $4000. Member lincolndsp had it at "mid xxxx - high xxxx at least" And it sold for $8,000 big deal, its a very nice name.

1. Trademarks throw all kinds on speedbumps in an appraisal.

2. You cant predict what people would fight a name up to in a heated sedo action.

As keithmt correctly said in the last post in the PowerZone.com thread, "Only thing that matters when it comes to value is what someone is willing to pay."

So, when people post their domain names here in the appraisal forum, they should know that they just may be able to get MUCH more money for their domain names than NP members appraise the names. Often, the actual sales price of a domain name has to do with the seller's experience, knowledge of the domain name industry, and marketing and communication skills.

Although there are a myriad of examples of domain names that seem to be worth a certain amount but that actually sell for MUCH more, here's just one example that many of you here on NP already know about: CamRoulette.com: Understanding Domain Sales Regret In this story, the domainer and NP member sold his domain name for $1,400 to a more experienced domainer with superior marketing skills who then resold the same domain name for $150,000 right after.
