Any market for .BE domain names in the future?

Hello to all!

Lots of .BE appraisals for .BE domain names are appearing in the domain appraisal forum lately due to the free givaways from many registrars. Everyone is so quick to jump up and say that these domain names are worth $0.00... But I'm not sure I agree!

Some domain names in this extension are great. I think that Dictionary, Generic names and Belgian rich Keyword domain names have at least some value. With all TLD extensions, the ones with the general keyword domain names always go for a good price.

Giving domains away free for a period is a great way to boost a domain name extension sales. It gets a domain name that hasnt bee fully recognised properly into the industry. We will see considerably more domain names in the .BE extension change hands than we would have seen if they werent given away free.

Look at .info domains for example. The sales of .info domain names are now absolutely booming compared to the sales of them prior to free givaways from domaindiscount24 and other domain name companies.

Now that they have been given away free, for a short period of time, nearly all of the good ones have gone! These domains are the rare ones, and as with any domain name extension, the ones that are hard to get hold of usually get exchanged for the bigger bucks!

Just because a company is giving them away free, doesnt mean they are worth nothing!

no. does not mean at all. I have seen some be's sold for $200, i think at dnjournal archieve. I hope very much that be's will be valuable, because my parked be's are making me money right now . so future for be's is very very close.

.be names connected to Belgian economy or culture I see having some value, but not the other stuff.

This is a country TLD. Most names have little value outside Belgium.
Whether they are for free or not doesn't make a difference.

I guess most of the free names have been taken by foreigners so I doubt the campaign will have an effect on the Belgian Internet if any.

.be domains will certainly have more value wehen its promotional period will get over. after january next year certainly there will be more rush for good .be domains. its free just for its promotion.

whatever it is, if it is developed, giving some revenue, then it is worth.

I agree to a point, but IMO, HV keyword domains are valuable no matter what the ccTLD extension (99% of the time). Most of the time, it's what's to the left of the [dot] that counts.

The problem with free domain giveaways is the extreme glut of junk that gets registered and then dropped.. to avoid this, I'd suggest the domain is free the first year, no transfers within the first year to encourage development, and either a forced renewal for the second year or a reasonable transfer fee.

It'd cut down on the "senseless" speculation that goes on with people grabbing just anything that's still available..

I only regged one word .be's either in english french or dutch

Time will tell if they have any value but in the meantime am more than happy to let them sit at sedo and earn a few

I registered some 8 .be names today. They might be worthless now, but you never know what will happen in a year. Porn.com and Casino.com were worthless once, too.

You can park EuroDNS .be domains, though, although you are only limited to registering 10 during the promotion period.

I reg'd a few good .be's and am developing them right now. We shall see in a few months how much they're worth ;]

i have a couple of be's that are to do with location ie. europe and different regions of europe that are parked at getting hits at sedo, others to do with webmastery and other different areas seem to be left alone, so maybe thats a trend that might see value in the future.
