ad-vertise.com is not separating two words. For instance home-loans.com has good hyphen placement separating the two-words. advertise is one word.

If you search apple sauce on Sedo you get my domain listed directly below the non hyphenated domain. It's been listed for a few weeks only and already has 63 views...
I have it listed there for $6888 thats $243 000 less than the none hyphenated domain....

BUT how can I tell her that I saw a thread about hyphen thingys and decided to go onto godaddy and try out various combos ranging from strawberry-juice.com, extravirgin-oliveoil.com (still available btw lol) among a lot more and end up buying health-snack.com

What can I honestly say? Federer and Deez007 brought up the conversation and it looked like a good opportunity?
Her reaction is going to be Hmm. I can deal with hmm. Its whats after hmm that the storm begins.
The next sentence will begin with OK. But I know from experience that everything is not OK, but I cant say too much cos that would be not OK.
We've finished with the the ok part, and now we are getting to the fine part. Fine usually means for me to shut up shop completely and say nothing at this stage. Cos if I do, we're back at the hmm stage.
Maybe then, I'll sneak away and buy extravirgin-oliveoil.com if its still available lol.

My logic behind hyphenated domains are that... most website traffic these days comes from click thru traffic and not often type in traffic. Now, when it comes to click thru traffic the url needs to look good. A dodgy looking url will reduce click through rates.... so a domain like cheap-insurance.com makes sense... In most cases IMO the hyphenated version is a good alternative to the non hyphenated version... especially considering Google ignores the hyphen when it comes to SEO. So a non hyphenated domain wont have any more clout that a hyphenated domain on rankings. Then off course there are the cases when the hyphen would actually make the domain make sense and look better.. for example a domain like: Penisland.com - could be very unclear on what the website is about... but throw in a hyphen and: Pen-Island.com, all of a sudden it gives the domain a completely different meaning/look.
Over and above all of this... if I was an end user looking at creating a business website... lets say it was related to my domain apple-sauce (dot) com ... now I saw that the non hyphenated domain is selling for $250 000 but the hyphenated version is selling for $6788. Lets assume I had the budget to buy the $250k domain as well.... I would still buy the hyphenated version ..then spend the extra $240k odd dollars on MARKETING... what do you think would have a better impact on my business ... a hyphenated domain and website, with $240k of marketing budget spent on it OR a just a $250K non hyphenated domain.....
