This situation with the unarmed people getting needlessly shot by the police is getting out of hand and is beginning to undermine the fabric of the society.

People should be supportive and respectful of the good police officers who put their lives on the line everyday to protect them and people should abide by the rightful instructions that are given to them by an officer instead of becoming confrontational.

But, that being said it’s hard to accept the fact that some police officers are still choosing to kill unarmed people (suspects) even after this issue has become such a sensitive subject in recent months.

Logically we all agree that certain level of force might be needed to apprehend someone who is being confrontational and is presenting a danger to others, but the use of force has to be proportional to the situation at hand and the force should be discontinued once a suspect is subdued or is in handcuffs. In some cases it might even be justified for the police to use their tasers to immobilize a suspect and perhaps in some extreme circumstances they might be allowed to take a shot or two at the suspect's lower extremities as an option of last resort.

But how is it that the police are taking 6, 7 , or even 10 shots to stop an unarmed suspect.

Well it might have something to do with saving money for the City.

If the police shoot someone in the legs, well the City has to pick up the tabs for their Hospitalization and they might even develop some kind of disability that the City has to compensate them for and after they get well they have to be prosecuted in the courts and possibly get incarcerated which is still more costs for the City.

But when the police empty their guns at unarmed suspects and shoot them in the upper body multiple times to make sure that they are dead the problem is solved right there and right then because there is not going to be any Hospital bills and other expenses that the City has to take care of and by giving the police a pass on murder charges and justifying their actions the City officials make sure that they don’t have to pay for a lawsuit either.

The police officers on the streets are just carrying out the unspoken policies that are designed to save the City money.

So in my opinion the roots of this problem lies at the feet of the Mayors, chiefs of police, and the other City officials who are behind the scene. We need to establish a neutral, independent, and unbiased third party institution at the national level that can oversee all policing operations and policies and which can have the power to weed out the bad apples who want to abuse their power and influence over the society regardless of their rank and position.

The way that the police and the justice system treat people is a reflection on our civilization and culture as a whole, we can't pretend to be a free and democratic society and then be trampling on people's rights whenever it suits some hidden agenda or purpose especially if it's done out of sight in cases that we don't hear about in the news. If we justify doing evil when no one is looking or that we think that we can get away with, then we are going to be far apart from the righteous and enlightened people that we claim to be.

The law enforcement and the justice system should be responsible for marking sure that the rights and safety of all people are protected and that the police are not working as an agent for any specific class within the society or as an enforcer and protector for any special interest group's agendas and interests. Laws must be designed so that people can have a direct path made available to them to redemption and salvation at all times and that they can better themselves without having any hindrance or obstacles put in their way and without being degraded, humiliated, or having to live in constant fear for their safety and their lives.

To be fair and unbiased we also have to realize the fact that perhaps we are putting the police in an awkward situation by expecting them to solve all the problems that have gripped the society in the past few decades all by themselves. Whether it's having to take care of the many homeless, hungry, and disease ridden people that are roaming the streets or whether it's having to deal with those who are driven to a life of crime because of racial and economical inequalities, mental disorders, or addiction or whether it's having to combat so much abuse, human trafficking, delinquency, hatred, animosities, and domestic violence or bullying on a daily basis, all this can and does take a toll on the good police officers that have to deal with these kind of issues day in and day out and eventually can turn even the most dedicated officers to become insensitive to people's misery and pain.

We can’t allow the police to play the role of executioners, nor can we expect them to be the saviors of the society. The police are there to serve and protect and to the extent that we all agree that a civil society needs law and order for it to function then people have to accept the fact that they need the police to keep order. But it’s also important that the laws that the police are responsible for enforcing are fair and just. So when we look for answers as to how to fix all the problems that are ailing our Cities we also have to question some of our fundamental beliefs as to what true justice really is. When opposing and competing forces clash who’s side are we going to take, the side of the oppressor or the oppressed, the side of the hunter or the prey. It’s a difficult decision to face, but the answer may be in reforming our ways so that we can break away from the raw and cruel ways that our society has evolved to get to the present point.

As I have been saying all along, we need to find common grounds over the Universal values and principles that are derived through logic and compassion and help humanity ascend to a higher level of thinking and existence that can allow it to overcome all these problems.
