The purpose of this website is quiet fun and simple: You upload a portrait of yourself and in return, you get an animated sketch. You may also choose the color of the animated sketch.

This can be quiet viral on facebook and by email.
Site is new.

Note for the script to work, the gifsicle library should be installed on the server. If it's not, I can install it for you (provided you have root access) or you can ask your hosting to install it for you.

A new addition to the script:
the generated images will have a bar at the bottom with the name of the site written on it, in order to incite other users to visit it.

legend2, when someone creates an animated sketch, does it actually store the graphic on your server permanently? I'm just wondering about how much space is needed to store thousands of these images. If it went viral, there could be hundreds of thousands, even millions.

Is it possible to only store the graphic for a fixed amount of time, let's say 30 days?

I too would prefer an "unanimated" version. Maybe you could make it a user option -- animated or non-animated?

A small php script can be done, which would delete files older than 'x' amount of days.
This script would be set as a cron job.
OR (option 2), whenever a user generates a new image, the script checks for older ones and deletes them. This way, no need for cron jobs.
OR (option3), would be a php file which you would call fromt ime to time manually though the site, and which does the clean up.

As for the unanimated version, it can be generated as well in, my only concern in this case would be that the static version would be close to part of a script which I did earlier at http://www.photoeffects.info/ (if you go to monochrome effect). And since I never sell the same thing twice, it would be unfair for the owner

The file names are obstructed and the files are not being deleted for the demo prupose.
