Does amazon have a "pay per click" type service?

Say you're making an unofficial website for a band.

On your albums page, you have the pictures to the albums which link to the corresponding amazon sales page (for that album)

Do they have a program for this like a ppc or do people just link to amazon to have a better informative website?

I don't really care, I'm gonna link my albums to amazon anyway.. but I was just wondering if Amazon gives you anything for this.

If this is the wrong place to post this, please move.

They don't have anything for PPC, but you can become an affilate and earn commissions on sales.

Can you point me in the right direction? I was up late last night making a webpage and looked high and low on amazon.com for any sort of program.. all I really saw was that Mechanical Turk thing which confused me at such a late hour.

Thanks for the answer though.

I've heard that there are a lot of amazon scripts floating around that you can plug into your site the way you described. You'd have to first join the amazon affiliate program and you would only make money if someone bought the products through your site.

go to https://associates.amazon.com and log in with our amazon account e-mail/password. It is easy-peasy to set up on your site.

I must say that my experience with it is that it sucks -- very few orders. Maybe you should consider something else--eg google adwords.

I am probably one of the few advocates for Amazon Associates on the board, but I am a HUGE fan :)
All kinds of ready made templates that are SE friendly, and Amazon is one of the few stores that sells almost EVERYTHING online, and it all pays commission.
As far as a true CPC model, Amazon doesn't have this. They pay for transactions, IOW, when someone buys something through an affiliate link, you get between 4% and 15% commission depending on your volume and what the item(s) was(were).

Amazon actually offers two different things here:

  • Amazon Ads (PPC): This is their internal advertising platform for sellers. It works on a pay-per-click model, but it’s only for people who are selling products on Amazon and want to promote them within Amazon search results or product pages.
  • Amazon Associates (Affiliate Program): This is what applies to you if you’re running a band site and linking to albums on Amazon. It’s not PPC, but instead you earn a commission whenever someone clicks your affiliate link and then makes a purchase.

So if your goal is to simply link the albums, the best option is to join the Amazon Associates program. You won’t get paid per click, but you will get credit for sales generated through your links. Since you’re already planning to link to Amazon, adding affiliate tags could give you some extra income at no additional cost.
