Almost got me!!

Watch out for an email supposedly from Google Adwords making the rounds. The email claims that my adwords campaign suddenly stopped working this morning, login to find out the problem - heh,heh.

Follow the link to a site that looks exactly like google adwords - except for the Url - google-he.com - Checked DomainTools.com and the site was registered this morning to "Eva O'Brien" from Texas.

It was at least good enough to make me click the link. Beware.

Wouldn't even begin to know how to contact Google.

Here is the text of the email. When received the message is in proper Google formatting,fonts,colour etc. Looks very official.


"Your Google ads have stopped running this morning (Wednesday, 19 May 2010).
Dear AdWords Advertiser,

Your campaigns seems to have stopped on Wednesday, 19 May 2010. Please login and check if everything is running without any problems. Also check if your keywords and phrases are linked directly to specific products or services.

Click here to confirm that your campaigns are up and running 100% at this time.

We'll often stop running your ads until we are able to make the necessary updates. As soon as we made and saved the changes, your ads are automatically resubmitted to us for review.But in this case some of our servers can not confirm if all ads are running 100% correctly, including yours.

Please note: If you do not verify the status of your Adwords account and notify us if your ads do not appear online we can not help you and your ads will stay offline for the next few days.

Phishing is very common. Everyone should always be wary of emails.

Watch out for unfamiliar hosting companies as well. I was just contacted by one trying to get me to transfer over a domain.

Thanks for the warning. google-he.com has now been deleted but the scammers probably just moved on to a new domain.

i receive one nearly everyday..

my fren nearly fell for a online banking phishing site until she told me about it and i told her not to login via that link..

I receive phishing emails almost everyday, they're kinda funny sometimes, well, when you know how to recognize them.

Why bother reporting these things? I swear that these messages go into a big black abyss.

Anyone who falls for a phishing scam these days should probably stay off the internet...

Guidelines to follow:

NEVER click on an email link. If the email claims to be from a major company or bank, go directly to the company/website itself by GOOGLING it.

NEVER give out your password to a third party.

ALWAYS verify the URL before logging in.​

It's up to the user to take due precautions.
