NPGeek is looking for auctioneers.
Thats correct, we are looking for auctioneers.

We are looking for trustworthy, professional and flexible persons who can lead the NPG Auctions.

In order to qualify for the NPG Auctioneers position,

You need to be meet the following requirements:

16 years +
Can handle pressure
TR 20+
Atleast member for 2 months

Controlling good:
technical insight
communications skills
english language
-
NPG Member

If you fit the requirements.

Post in here why you want to be an auctioneer.

We'll be selecting 5 people from here. After whe have chosen the people ( via pm ) they need to make an test to qualify completly.

My motivation here is AGE EQUALITY

-Where or When did you get the idea that an over 18 year old is better more responsible or can auction better than anyone under 18?
-What makes an over 18 responsible?!, age means very little on the internet, responsibility and behavior do not depend on age, someone 18 can act much much worse that someone 14.
-you say an under 18 will get power hungry? who says an over 18 WONT?
you say an under 18 is not reponsible, who does drink driving? kills fellow man? the majority: over 18.
-I will offer an example, i will use myself for ease of simplicity.

I am a DSM (dep stage manager) at my local theatre, my job is to take notes and know the production like the back of my hand, sort everyones cues etc, on the night, i make sure the cast know what they are doing and cue my tech team, i run the show, i cue the tech team, make sure the cast are running ok, if anyone goes wrong its MY neck on the line, im sure i havent described it well, but thats pressure and responsibilty and a half, im 15 and im coping perfectly fine, IM ENJOYING it

the MAJORITY of under 18's can do the same job if not BETTER than an over 18, dont have your views shorouded by people like velous, people like GJ Vip-IP, the qulity youth of NP (2 off the top of my head)
Give us a chance ah?
If we mess up, its NOt the end of the world ah?

under 18's CAN do this just as well or BETTER
Dont judge us by our age, we are human (i hope) just the same as over 18's we have the same skills as over 18's communication and people wise, WE CAN DO THIS.

well also from reading it over 4 times. and based on your oppinion i will lower it by 2 years. age will goto 16 years as a minimum. altho 18 is preffered

Hello.

I wish to be an auctioneer, as I believe that I have the maturity, patience and overall skills required to make an NP$ auction successful.

I will be able to deal with the stress which comes with being the auctioneer more than adequately.

My primary language is english, and I have excellent grammar and communication skills.

I have ran an NP$ auction before, and it was a success.

This is just a brief summary of why I would like to be an auctioneer, and why I feel I qualify for the position.

I would like to be a auctioneer at the NPG auctions but age age age.
I have a TR of almost 30, I have been here for more than 6 months and I can handle pressure as I support hosting clients even when I don't have the answer. I handled the situation last Friday without the system at hand from some of the night. Well I am still not sure your view on age after a while of talking to you on msn but I don't think that stopping members from entering because of there age is very good, If this is the case and other members who you have asked said that 18+ would be the best thing then I am worried about my position here at Namepros. I take it you have spoken to staff about age and if this is the case I don't know if I can continue to post and talk in the chatroom let alone use Namepros and the Namepros currency as a base for my hosting. If ageism is a issue here at Namepros then why let anyone register? Why not limit the age to over 18 so everyone will be respected? I know some of you may be thinking that ageism is not a big thing and only happens in older people but put yourself in my boots and see how you feel having a comment about my attitude because I am tring to protect my view? I don't think you would feel very happy and I don't think you would feel like you would want to continue here on Namepros and this is the way I feel about this issue. Over the past 7 months I felt that I am respected but after tonight I don't think this is the case because I am a bit younger than the rest of you. I started young, I know some of you wished you had started dealing in domains and hosting at a younger age but I have had two comments about my age in the past two weeks here at Namepros and I don't like it. I mean why start young if your gonna get bad comments about starting young.
Guys, I am seriously thinking about leaving Namepros because of this situation with age and I am starting to belive age is a key on the internet and everyone feels the same about teenages and the internet.

As for the response of GJ. Its your choice if you want to leave NP. but this a choice i have made with others for NPG Auctions. If you dont think age is an important issue well thats your opinion. I got an other view on this issue.

To clarify, xlusive is not a NamePros staff, and this post was not suggested, pre-approved, endorsed or posted by NamePros. NPG is not a part of NamePros. Hense, I'm not going to comment on the unwarranted ageism remarks against NamePros by GJ.

Unofficial events are exactly that, unofficial. They are not planned or run by NamePros, and while permission is granted to run the events, we have not regulated them and do not oversee them. Compare it to an independently produced program aired on community access television.

I am realizing what goes on in the NP chatroom can be a reflection on NamePros, whether or not we're officially endorsing an event. I am considering a moratorium on these types of "unofficial" events until we can set a standard for them or have staff on hand.

After the last couple of disaterous (imho) unofficial chat events I made two suggestions to xlusive: 1) Future unofficial live events be held on NPGeek and not NamePros, and 2) Auctioneers be selected and trained in advance, so all auctioneers adhere to a common standard. Nothing further was discussed on either of these issues and I'm not sure what his current plans are for future events.

About the previous event- It was really unfair to GJ Online to be tossed into the role of auctioneer for a live auction with no preparation and no backup support. Auctioneering a live event might look fun, but it is not easy and is mentally exhausting and often stressful. Situations that come up where the auctioneer doesn't how to handle it can cause a breakdown and loss of control. GJ was setup to fail. Guidelines about what is and isn't allowed, how long an event should run, and how to handle things overall need to be discussed beforehand. Let's assume that this is the purpose of this thread.

I do hope these issues can be resolved and we can have fun and successful live events in the future.

As ron stated before : NPG is not a part of NamePros

Also i have talked with some other persons. this is a descision made for NPG. and only for NPG Auctions.

And the last time. due server issues it became something else then we had expected and GJ gladly took over. That was only for that particular night.

And even if people want to make comments on age. feel free to reply. This has nothing todo with NP, this is a descision made by the NPG staff members.

Greg, we love to have you here in the community. Personally I don't think age matters. The bottom line in this forum is that we're here to discuss, trade and talk about domains and the domain indutry right? Putting up and age limit would be completely wrong! Anyone who knows how to use a computer should be allowed to register here and be a part of this awesome community.

I don't know about all the comments people have made with regards to your age, but you shouldn't always take it seriously or let it grow on you. Be happy that you started early, you've got a great future ahead of you..don't let anyone tell you anything else..
