Been seeing LLL.mobis moving but I'm curious what kind of premium could be expected from airport code LLL.mobi's. I have:

DTW.mobi - the code for Detroit Metro Airport

EWR.mobi - the code for Newark International Airport

These are the 19th and 21st worlds busiest airports for passenger traffic.

Any thoughts on values and development appreciated.

Good catch. I tried to get the airport codes durring the landrush but was unsucessfull.

I would develop them.mabey put bus scheduals , and other transportaion resources on them , . i know when I go to an airport I want to know whats there to eat what type of wifi they have and how am I going to get there and back. they would be relitivly easy to market for becouse you know exactly where your demografic will be.

Cant wait to see what you do... Best of luck

I was bummed that I got only 2 of the 30 I tried for but I guess I should be glad I got what I did. I thought of the typical bus, taxi, rental car, hotels, restaurant type of stuff. Would be cool to get flight info but I have no idea where to pull that data from. Probably pretty complicated and expensive in real time.

Actually, Hong Kong International is HKG. That would be a good one at #14.

Here is a nice list of the LLL code names:

This list sure illustrates just how many airports there are, and this one isn't even complete.

I've been only referencing the busiest list at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World's_busiest_airports_by_passenger_traffic

You beat me to EWR...*sob* *sob*

Anyways, I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't know many people who have airport call names memorized...

Memorize the entire list? Other than travel agents I doubt it. But it is on every plane ticket I have ever had and I think most travelers know their hometown airport code as well as others they frequently fly to. I think airport LLL.mobi's would be easy URLs to market in their respective regions.

Well, it wasn't on my mind when I regged them, but I went through and Googled all of my LLL.mobi names along with "airport code," and came up with 17 airports...and boy are they big ones! I mean, who hasn't had to change planes at Nana Airport in the Solomon Islands at some point, right?

My favorite has to be "St. Lambert Rail Service," which actually turns out to be a Canadian railway station with an IATA code! For some reason, I ended up with several in Canada. If anyone happens to know that any of the international ones are actually quite large, I'd be interested to hear...

Choibalsan Airport, Mongolia (COQ)
Coventry, West Midlands Intl. Airport, UK (CVT)
Dalaman Airport, Turkey (DLM)
Hengyang Airport, China (HNY)
Barnstable Municipal Airport, Hyannis, MA (HYA)
Ilford Airport, Manitoba, Canada (ILF)
Likoma Airport, Malawi (LIX)
Smolensk Airport, Russian Federation (LNX)
Mandalay International, Myanmar (MDL)
Nana Airport, Solomon Islands (NAZ)
Oshakati Airport, Namibia (OHI)
Crews Field, Raton, New Mexico, US (RTN)
Tongliao Airport, China (TGO)
White River Airport, Arizona, US (WTR)
St Lambert Rail Service, Montreal, Canada (XLM)
Norway House Airport, Manitoba, Canada (YNE)
Dean River Airport, BC, Canada (YRD)

Dagersh, there has got to be some dirt runways in that list. Don't know if they will command a premium in resale but it doesn't hurt. Here's an idea, keep them all and travel to all these places and you can claim it all as a write off. Business research.

You must have quite a bundle of LLL.mobis. :)

"Some"? Maybe more like "all"! Except for the railway station -- I think that one has dirt tracks.

I like your travel idea, though... :)

I have 23 LLL.mobis...six of them didn't show up as airport codes. Honestly, I doubt that any of these 17 airport codes will mean any kind of premium -- I'm sure they'll sell for entirely different reasons.

I decided to post DTW.mobi and EWR.mobi for sale in the Marketplace. Will see how they do.
