I always said here I'll do something with these domain names and develop them. So I got off my lazy ass and did something about it.

Here's the deal: I have my main portfolio listed in Undeveloped, as well as some of my names posted up separately in BrandBucket and Namerific.... Now wait a sec, does that statement seem a bit odd to you?

Well it did to me. I wanted a visually appealing portfolio of my best domains that I can manage myself, without a strict approval process getting in the way. And why not help others post their own too?

Also for names that I love which won't make it to those branding marketplaces e.g. Jokes.wtf , I want to make a great logo for them that they deserve and showcase it on my portfolio.

Without further ado the site is: http://namifieds.com

You can read more about my rationale on the Readme: https://namifieds.com/readme/

I would appreciate some feedback to the website, and if you decide to use it that's awesome too.
Thank you 🐱

  • One of my main questions is if the filter system is good enough?
Currently when you scroll down and load more from the infinite scroll, the order system won't take new posts into account. So you have to click on a filter to sort it again after new posts load.
  • TODO: Add filters for mobile and improve the mobile friendliness.
  • TODO: Social media one-click register.
  • TODO: When PMing someone via link, their names need to be on the TO: mail automatically.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You could separate domains by that logo requirement. Put the domains with no logo on another page in more of a list or grid with just the name and others that have the logo can go in the box grid with their logos.

Absolutely great work, great website, great everything

only one tiny problem........

I'll never remember the domain name, it seems odd and cumbersome.

I thought if I said it a dozen times I would remember.

Unfortunately.... not so, unless I bookmark it I will probably have problems finding it tomorrow.

sorry

Ok thank you guys.

Since you all liked the concept, I decided to fork out an arm and leg and get Namefol.io for $30 usd reg fee. Namefolio.com is currently BIN for $4000 USD apparently haha.

I guess it will look good like Namefol.io/yourname as your portfolio handle.

Quick logo concept by Logojoy (not final)

Well as an English speaking person it unfortunately did not connect for me.
(unless you thought Canadians don't speak English :xf.grin:)

name with Classifieds = namifieds

Makes sense to me now but the " i " in the middle throws me.

I'm more apt to remember now that I see the classified connection (y)

Would I personally use it in a project or site launch..... probably not.

It wasn't targeted to you specifically, my mother who isn't a native speaker couldn't spell it too lol.

Show attachment 97443 Hi @cixxy ...

Just noticed this thread and read all the conversation...

Checked your site...
It looks clean and user friendly (easy to use)

Great work...and hope you get more exposure...

Coming to name... I too realised that it is combination of name + classifieds...

If you are willing to change and also thinking of ccTLDs for that (I know .io is more than ccTLD for anyone talking about brands/startups)

...but don't you miss .com advantage (as here they say...king !)
...and did you considered "brand" word in title... I mean it is obvious and definitely more catchy than "name"
... I checked on mobile...and the homepage is good..the site name is looking very small and not standing out..

I am no expert or a big user of these type of sites...
Just my observations..
Thanks

Thank you and for your observations @vravis9

Yeah I'm aware of the logo problem. The Mobile layout definitely needs work. But this new logo on http://namefol.io should be right!

I like IO because of the innovation vibe that comes from it, which also resonates with this domain hack name and the website itself because of Input/output and buying/selling.

I did think of Brandfolio indeed. Both Brandfolio.com & Brandfol.io was taken so it made my decision easier.

Also the fact that sometimes domain names aren't brands, like some keyword domains (e.g. my domain VegetarianCurry.com) so it's more flexible in that regard being called a name.

That works a lot better- great name. Worth the extra bucks.

So the site is gorgeous. Really well done. Keep it well-tuned she'll run smoothly. Keep it up!

That's great to hear, thank you so much for the kind words 🍻🍻🍻

Really nice design!

I don't understand the purpose of the site. Is it to replace all the other domain name marketplaces, and if so what will be the commission?

If there's no commission, then how will you make money to support the additional server requirements that grow over time, customer service, etc.?

How will the transactions be processed? Will you be including escrow within the process such that https://namefol.io takes the payment, and then the seller transfers the domain name to the buyer, before being paid?

One small nit on the readme page, for the graphic in the "No Extension Limit" section you committed the original sin (including .com on the end!). 🤣

Thanks everyone for appreciating! 🍺

I changed removed the author slug so from namefol.io/p/cixxy to namefol.io/cixxy

It's great but there's one problem... if there's a page already called Readme and you register as an user called readme, your portfolio page will go to that readme page instead. Anyone technical to know about this? It's wordpress php.

Love the look.layout loads fast...easy on the eye!!!

Only thing that I would change..."Most Pricey" to something less blunt , something like "Premium"...

Done, thanks for the suggestion. :)

1. Recent posts on right sidebar https://namefol.io/readme/ should say New Domains
2. Left sidebar readme should be Read Me

Done thanks for noticing. I kinda prefer it being Readme though. All those readme.txt 's you know.

Thanks and great questions mate.

If the server / maintenance costs grow too much I can try to put some minimal ads in a clever way or ask a premium to add names in the featured domains which will be a small strip at the top of the homepage. Probably will take a long time for it to gain that much traffic though.

Currently it just uses a message system to buy it now, so you can organise the buying/selling it in your end, or redirect them to your Undeveloped, sedo parking etc.

The purpose of the site is highlighted in the Readme, hopefully it's enough of a reason. Also to gain more exposure for your domains, share them and vote likes / comment on the logo / domain names like a portfolio website: Behance (should add this point).

You have great eyes to notice that sin haha 👀 It was a mockup generated by LogoJoy so I wasn't responsible for the typo :p Just fixed it via photoshop.

I had a quick look just now, and really like the clean look and responsive feel. Free and always? It seems too good to be true! Thanks on behalf of the community, I think it will have a significant impact!

Thanks,

Bob

ps re approval one might want to expand to mention that TM obviously should not be in either domains or logo elements.

I like it as well...very neat and, as said above, I like the responsiveness in how the names move when categories are selected.

Can you "reserve" that name (second account).

Love the improvements!

Yeah I got around it by a similar solution, installed a plugin to restrict usernames and reserve the ones that are meant for pages ^_^

Thanks for testing the site and posting your logos.

I'll be trying more things to improve the site overall then I can promote it better via SEO or other things like offering free logo design services (via logojoy) for those that join and use the site.

Top priority right now is to make a better filter system and fix the messaging buy it now links.

Thats Amazing work, You did all things right, My suggestion is to add alone page for every name, It will give you ability to redirect all the name to their own landing page.

Changes:
- fixed filter system so now it will sort by all items instead of those that are visible.
- fixed message system
- filled the background gaps on darker coloured logos.

The site is nearly finished with only minor bugs left. So I've started a limited time promotion where I'll be designing logos for free. :)

Details here: https://www.namepros.com/threads/free-service-free-logo-design-limited-time-only.1101382

Thanks. There are lone pages, you just have to click the title of the popup. maybe it's not very clear though right now!

Thanks people.

Also another random thought popped up. Is having a logo requirement too much? I was thinking at one point to have an AI generate it or something.

My thought process in requiring a logo is that 1. there is cool logo generator sites like logojoy.com and 2. Usually with your high quality names you would want a good logo to represent them if they don't have one already.
Very nice.

This could be the result of not having a cron job running.

It's more to do with how it's currently coded I believe. It uses javascript to poll the existing posts when you click the filter button, rather than using a php sorting query. So yeah I'm wondering if this will cause usability issues down the line.

  • The sidebar remains visible by scrolling at a speed relative to the page’s height.
