It is an awesome domain name :)

That's crazy, good luck with it.

I'd think it'd be really hard to find a buyer for a domain that costs more then a new car :D

Ads.com = low to mid ###,###

Designbin.net....you obviously don't know corporate business. Big business spends 250,000 like you would buy a new tv. When you are dealing with companies that have billions of dollars, what's a few hundred grand? Seriously. I'm not joking.

Matt, you are right, easily a $100k domain. I never owned anything even close to as valuable so I under sold it a little.

odyssey LLS owns it

they want 450K but are open to offers

it's one of the top domains listed at great domains

it's alexa is going the wrong way

solid name for a third tier industry

there are no advertising companys the size of a major major company like a GM or Microsoft

so you have some large ad companies that would pay 1M+ for such a primo name especially if they gave terms

advertising companies are a little like law firms as to overall size (how much revenue they make)

but there are way many large lawfirms

the way corporations break down is

super global company

value and revenue many many billions of dollars

GM - MicroSoft etc

BIG COMPANIES

More than a billion

LARGE COMPANIES almost a billion

Once you get under a billion you start finding many companies that service a niche market

now the ad industry (we run an ad company) is not a heavily populated industry perse as the medical and law industries are

so the name would have to shopped to the top ad agencies who are all hurting in a recession

perhaps a sealed auction for the name where you invite the top CEOs of that industry to bid on it

that's how we'd handle it

excellent third tier name that could get 1M+ if they had a real broker handle it

listing it with GD it will sit there and if it ever sells it will be for much less than it is worth

the large advertising company that gets the name gets a good advantage over his competition by controlling it

your sales team can pitch ad buyers with ADS.com on their cards

contact [email protected]

of course these companies all have dom's with their corp name in them, but who the heck remembers some name that looks usually like a lawfirm

if you put the ceos of all the major car manufacturers in a room and had car.com or auto.com for auction what do you think the bidding would hit?

if you put the ceo's of all the top airlines in a room what do you think air.com and travel.com would go for

of course you could use an auction house like christies for a private bidding session if they don't all want to meet in say hawaii for a weekend

many great domain names were sold at the start of the internet age way before any major companies got involved in trying to buy them

you went to GM with auto.com they would have said dot what

you go to GM today with auto.com they would say welcome partner

what don't you understand

i've dealt with the owner

the list is 450K

he'll take less

it's sitting at great domains a place that can't even take a new listing

GD is virtually out of business

my opinion is to the right major ad company (probably less than 10 of them at the top level) it's an easy 1M name

now what don't you understand?

who owns it? Odyssey LLS does I believe in San Fran

you don't understand it's listed at 450K?

you don't understand I've discussed the domain with the owner?

You don't understand it's a major name in a 3rd or 4th tier large industry?

i explained what I think the dom is worth, 1M+ to the right buyer maybe even more if you get two major ad houses on madison ave bidding against each other

the only limiting factor to the dom, is that a super global company doesn't need it

you know one that has a 50 to 250 BILLION dollar worth on the street

anyway, i thought i explained my opinion on it clearly

it's one of the top 5 or so domains being offered right now for sale

well the 450K is soft due to the sellers own opinion

but in my opinion it's way too low

how about this, pick up the name for 300K or even 450K

you get a young VP of a madison ave ad firm to become your partner

you launch a new advertising company

ads.com

if you have the right partner (experienced ad exec with a major firm with an MBA from an Ivy school) you now have a company that will be able to get at least 5M in venture cap with no problem

in 1999 you would of had 50M in venture cap for such a project

all you need for that name is to marry it to a pedigree ad exec from a major firm

VC's would be drooling even in this era

< ... perhaps I should move this to the "Domain Name Discussion" Forum, since it's not owned by the originating poster.

Ah hell, for now ... please continue your discussion, folks! :)

I was discussing with the owner of the site. So I asked for appraisal. But it's really worth 450K

owner says list is 450K but open to offers due to market conditions

to an end user 450K is cheap

for a speculator 450K is high

i'd say 50K to 100K is the place for a fast sale to a speculator

500K to 1M+ is the range for a long term shop around to madison ave players
