ABSOLUTE BEST statistic script?

Hey guys,

What is the absolute best websites statistics script that I myself can install on my server spot/shared hosting package (not something that requires CPanel, etc.). Just a simple upload-and-configure type script. I want something somewhat advanced: shows countries, referals, bots, uniques, page views, incoming search terms, etc. I also want something that will show the entire stat history (I have managed to find a script, but the only problem is it only shows stats from the last 30 days, I want something that keeps a log of everything (from first use til you stop using it)!).

I am having a real hard time finding some3thing as such.

Please help!

Edit: and for any of you that are going to come in and say "OMG have you tried searching Hotscripts?!". I'll answer it right now: yes, I have - and by reading the descriptions, I can't find anything. I'm hoping someone can recommend something really great here.

OMG have you tried searching Hotscripts?! Oops, sorry :)

Best for me is Urchin but it's not free and maybe not easy to install. Else you can try AWStats or Webalyzer. Both are excellents, easy to install and free.

lol

Hmm, but arn't those 3 all ones that require Cpanel and whatnot?

None require CPanel. They come installed with CPanel for sure. But of course you can install them yourself with "normal" hosting. Maybe could you visit their websites.

Are you looking for a program that site guests can view or just yourself?

I have used http://bbclone.de/ in the past and just recently put it up again. It does what I want but its kinda hard to install if you want to track hits to non-PHP pages...

Awstats is the best
I didn't like it at first, but now I love it

I have used AWStats. It is Perl based. I run Windows servers, so I have the ability to run ASP scripts also and I have to say I really like MetaTraffic (http://www.metasun.com). They have a free version, but the paid version is only $39 I believe and has a couple of extra features.

Now, let me tell you why I like it...
AWStats and most others don't show the query portion of the URL's (everything after the ? in the URL). If you are running it on a database driven site, you want to know the exact URL. MetaTraffic does that and isn't taxing on the server.

If you're hosting on a Unix/Linux platform, then unfortunately, this app isn't an option.

Good luck.

I had Urchin before and loved it. But at $199/month.. No way!

How much does netstat cost?
How long do they keep the stats?
I kinda like BBClone because its all on my server.. If the counter is down/slow so is the site hehe

netstat is free, but very affective, it measures everyday after you've added it to your site so forever

I give up.

First I try some stupid thing called "TrackPro2".. sure it started off nicely but then it wouldn't log individual user's IPs, it kept showing the server's IP everytime someone came there. So after 7 hours of getting no-where with the dumb script, I deleted it.

Then, I tried some POS called "PHPWebTracker".. well, that was all nice and stuff except for that fact that I had to use a PHP include on the top of my PHP pages and it kept giving me errors because there were a few varibles that weren't working. So after two hours of mingling with that, I deleted it.

So then I try AWstats, I have never seen anything so impossible to install. The documentation makes about 0 sense to me and I uploaded it to my server (yeah, I probably uploaded everything wrong, but then again, like I knew how to do it). The instructions that came with it were just.. confusing, if you want to call them instructions.

So now, I'm just sitting here with no statistics scripts.
Those arn't the only 3 scripts I have tried installing, I have tried loads more but they either lack in features or they have glitches in them (or like AWstats - you just can't install them).

So, I give up.
No use for me to use statistics, as apparently the big guy upstairs doesn't want me to using any whatsoever. Ugh.

Thanks anyways guys, I guess I'll keep trying to find something that works.
