Any thoughts on these about + city domains? They're not exactly the largest cities but ...

Any thoughts appreciated!

they would've been worth something if the cities were bigger and better known. AboutNY.com, or AboutMiami.com would've been worth atleast low xxx. These ones, i'm not quite sure. The cities aren't the most popular destinations and I don't see a lot of people typing that in

reg fee, IMO

does anyone know if there is much type-in traffic for "about+keyword" names?

Durham's got quite a history - there was even a song about it "Durham Town". Think it's a very old roman town and for some reason I think Lady Godiva - the one who rode nekkid on a horse thru town - has some connection with it. Think it's a popular tourist spot though I've never been.

You need to approach the relevant authorities - town hall, library etc, to convince them that the domain is necessary to them. Ditto the other towns.

Alternatively you could market them to people who HATE those places, and they could list all the horrid things about them. 'Course if you mention someone might do that to the 'officials' of these places, might make them nervous enough to buy them. :)

ETA Ah, I've just realised that your 'Durham' might not be the original in England. In that case ignore the above. Unless you wish to market it to the English town that is. :)

Personally I would go for the .info for the cities instead.

I guess it depends.
Seems like names like that depend on the work you put into the website more than anything else. If you make it a resource people want. Personally, I'd rather try to turn a buck by addressing markets with targeted names.

Anyone can turn any name into anything with enough work and skill. Google didn't mean Diddly until it was developed into a useful too, marketed and grown. But I'd think you'd want a more abstract or generalized name if you wanted to go that route, like zotaz.com or something.

ok - so it seems that folks think these names could work if developed, but will probably have limited direct type-in traffic?

thanks for your feedback!
