.us A Moneymaker?

I have tophosting.us and getting some typ-in traffic..

I made a very simple fast mini site for it and put some google ads on it..

I didnt optimize the ads or the site.. I just wanted to test the waters..

In October it made: $ 1,94
In November so far: $ 0,40

I might optimize the ads better, and get a other site on it.. hmm can make me some money i guess.. any opinions what to do best??

Development is best, establish yourself as the best directory/review site of US hosts.

Bascially, you're facing the same trouble we all face:

.us names do not get decent traffic unless they are the best of the very best.

I bet the biggest sellers; models.us, jew.us, areacodes and even football.us got surprisingly little traffic. It's still just a budding market and it hasn't got any real hold on US consumers. Early days though..

This means that the domains HAVE to be developed and promoted in order to stand comparison or above their peers. Even then its difficult.

Not trying to put you off but it is hard work, as with any development where you dont have the cushion of lovely natural incoming traffic.

Good luck though, the more exposure of the .us TLD the better it is for the rest of us. Got many .us names waiting to be developed but i keep getting distracted...

As mentioned above, it's best use is as a directory of US based hosting companies, fo which there are many hundreds. As the traffic and site nuilds up you will be able to sell of AdSpace to the better companies, affiliate with most of them anyway and it should spiral.

The power of development, I have 'yer.us' getting 2000 or so uniques a month because someone in the past had a good developed site on it.

I think there are some out there but I don't personally know of any. Try to Google it and perhaps even post in some web hosting forums to see if there are any scripts out there.
