Hey,

When I put an image of 20px by 1px as the background of a cell, eg. <td background="image.jpg">, and the cell is a verticle LONG one (so it acts as a bar), I noticed that the bar doesn't appear in the first half of the second when the page loads. I figured that making the repeat image the smallest possible, but i also noticed that the browser needs to calculate and puts all of those 1px image one by one below each other.

Here's my question: What's the best height for the background image? so that it loads fast, and is put on the screen fast.

Thanks :cy:

what you want to do is make a new line in a table and have background black and set it to 1 heigh, there is no need for an image.

But i want the image to repeat vertically (the image is a horizontal gradient), so that the whole long cell looks like a bar..

Why not just load a graphic instead if its that short?

just build bigger image but keept it in small size... compress it... that is the only one option... if you cna show the url it will be better.
