You might run into some issues with globalnews.ca

Definitely confusingly similar, exact subject matter, couldn't necessarily use it for much else,
Purchased after the .ca was in use,
I think the .com may have the same issues since it's not in use except that it's been reg'd since 1994 with no drops
and looks like with current owner for more than 12 years.

there are TM's in the usa that contain the words

One exact match is for a retail store
This is a good example of using it for something other than direct meaning and not infringing

You could check with canada TM to see if anything is there as the usa will honor
