Hi,
Can anyone explain the 60 day ownership transfer rule?

Is this registrar specific, or for all domains?

Thanks!

Andrew

I'm pretty sure that you are unable to transfer domains from one registrar to another more than once in a 60 day period (initial registration also counts as a transfer). You can however, 'push' domains from one account to another at the same registrar at which it is registered.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah, change from one account to another.

And the 60 day rule I believe also applied to after you transfer from one registrar to another, you have to wait an additional 60 days to do that again.

I believe you'll have to wait another 60 days before you can transfer it if you change the contact/admin name and/or organization as well.

"push" means moving the domain from one account or sub-account to another within the same registrar.

So then if I aquire a name, and want to sell it to a 3rd party where I am unable to "push" it, the we'll have a longer escrow period? Is there any other way besides "push" to avoid this?

Temporarily transfer it to their DNS and host, but that's still not something that would satisfy me if I was buying a domain, IMHO.

Correct, both after initial registration or transfer out of registrar will require you to wait 60 days.
