Hey,

I want to run a contest for a web design for my parents. Here is the deal.

They have been in the BBQ business for about 35 years. They just sold their restaurant and now they have nothing to do and they are retiring.

They want to make money selling their "idea" and experience to other people.

Basically, if someone wanted to start a business and get into BBQ many times they purchase an existing place for 100-150K and then they go through a long trial and error process that costs them allot of money.

What I want to do is create a website with images of my parents in the BBQ setting of their restaurants that they just sold and have pages of text explaining what it is that they are selling.

This is a semi-sales site. Not allot of flash in your face, just a sprinkle.

I want a good looking 10-20 page site, done in the cowboy, southern, BBQ theme and I want to work with someone who can deliver.

I dont want ANY template sites. It's gotta look better than that.

RULES:

1. I want entries to submit a MOCK homepage image to enter using the image of my parents attached. Call is Barbeque Concepts. I understand that it will be hard to run a detailed homepage and not really fair since I am only picking one winner, so just give me a concept.

2. The links will be:

Who we are
What were selling
Contact

3. Contest will run 14 days.

4. I will submit feedback to keep it going.

Winner will be paid in cold hard cash, or NP bucks.

Why do you suggest extending the date? It has been 10 days and only two viable designs have been submitted. When the contest holder submits a contest with a deadline, I think he does so with the intent of receiving entries in a timely manner which will allow him to compare, suggest modifications and ultimately choose the best possible design for his project.

If the holder has to wait 14 days to receive any entries and then everyone submits them last-minute then he cannot have any additional input in the designs.

If Phil wants to consider your design, I have no problem with that. Submit it. If he likes yours more, I will not complain one bit since he will be getting what he wants.

So lets see your design.

I am not spending valuable time on a website concept when the decision has already been made. The fact of the matter is that the date was set and we were lead to believe a time limit was in play. That was not the case. Either way we have strong knowledge to know that Phil's mind is set upon one design.

These situations often become awkward...

Myself, when I run a contest I make sure to say upfront that I'm reserving the right to end the contest early, if I see something that really grabs me. That helps, but it doesn't satisfy every scenario, and some people still get mad if you end early.

Another thing I don't like about design contests myself... I worry that instead of declaring 1 winner, I'm declaring everyone else as a loser... you know what I mean?

My signature said I would be away for some days, I had already posted and I couldnt do anything about designing while I was away.

Plus I recieved no feedback what so ever, so I couldnt make any changes not knowing whether you liked it or not.

JustMadMike was also a designer that was gutted, so even still I am not going to hog your next contest etc, I will enter fairly if the rules are set. If you want to hire me personally, I would be most grateful.
