Now that's funny.

Now in "reality" considering you "experts" use keywords for your domains....

Courtesy of your friend and mine Google Keyword Tool

Keyword Competition Global Monthly Searches Local Monthly Searches

401k Low 1,830,000 1,830,000

[401k] Low 246,000 201,000

"401k" Low 1,500,000 1,500,000

Thanks for your insight. No matter how deep. ;)

I'm just saying...

Very true. But with proper SEO and 401k leading the name... I think it would do well.

I never claimed it was a cat killer. But as long as Google offers broad results on searches IMHO it's a good name. Especially from an advertiser's standpoint. Not to mention gold is an active market.

As a matter of fact, anyone, including you, who picks a domain name for any reason can give their own personal reason why it's great. There are many examples of domain names that have nothing to do with what the sites are about. But because of the money poured into it's marketing have made them household names... Google, Yahoo, Bing, Apple...

All you need is money baby!

And if I may be so bold to point out, IMHO, out of the 15 names in your signature, only five stand out as viable for real world usage.

Yes, but they are one in a million, and a lot of cash is put into companies like Google and Yahoo to get them where they are, I assume you have their budget then

Yes, you may be right, but lucky my names arent up for appraisal, yours are. You are judging my names without even researching them, that shows you need the newbie section more than I thought

Just say "thank you" when people take time out of their day to appraise your names

Appraisals are like opinions and butts, everyone has one. A domain is worth what someone is willing to pay. PERIOD.

I had an offer on the name for a low 5 figure amount. So according to you, that company must be nuts right?

I am judging your names based on my opinion of what the domains could be used for. Research or not. How much research went into the name Bing do you think?

And frankly if your domains are listed in your signature and your posting they should be fair game for opinions. Go ahead and put them out there for appraisal man!

I will say "thank you" when a serious nonfullofthemselves opinion is rendered with an ounce of respect.

I am a newbie here, but not to domaining.

Being a "Senior Member" doesn't mean your the domain god. And might I say the "holier than thou" attitudes you guys express towards people seeking "advice" and or "opinions" is quite asinine. You seem to shine in your belittling of others more than in your coveted advice.

Thanks again for another outstanding reply. Your opinion notwithstanding. Just say "thank you"... what an ass. :imho:

Research: Tablet App [Exact} Local 140, 3DChannel [Exact] Local 58, Cloud Guru [Exact] Local <50..... pretty dismal numbers eh?

My opinion, $0 valuation. You're welcome.

I had an offer on the name for a low 5 figure amount.

This seems to be a common phrase with a lot of new domainers, but we never see the names sell, they usually drop the following year or two...just curious why you didn't accept a 5 figure offer for this name?

The typical "I know it all and wont take any advice from anyone" new guy...this was just my opinion, you don't have to agree with it, but a lot of new guys/gals here just say thanks and wait for the next appraisal

Thats exactly what I mean, a name like CloudGuru.com wont have exact searches, this is just a nice name for a cloud company, just like CloudPros.com and CloudCo.com, no searches at all, but I sold them for $8K and $7K.... I'm just trying to give you an idea of what sells and try and help, thats it.

Names like Bing, Google, Yahoo, Twitter etc are brandable names and don't require any research, they are just short, pronounceable, catchy names that someone liked for their start-up and invested a lot of money into branding their business around the name, and it worked

I hope you get the appraisals you are looking for and I wish you all the best with the name

.

:talk:

here's a straight forward viewpoint:

if, you had such offer from legitimate company (which you vetted), then perhaps your initial post should have included that information.

if, you want to guide the appraisal around a "what if i develop" scenerio, then pose it in such a way to illicit that response.

however, if you just posting names and then want to crap on the names of those who don't see i2i with your assessment.....then what other reason are you seeking appraisals?

do you just want to hear, what you want to hear?

or do you want to know what others really think?

1. appeal, has more to do with value than a gkw number

2. a domain does not need gkw numbers to have appeal or be appealing

3. an, "as is domain" with no apparent appeal and only an "idea" of a model, does not necessarily make it more appealing....until the idea has materialized or a viable biz plan has been documented.

value to me = reg fee

if the claimed offer was true, then i would have sold.

imo...

Thanks Biggie for your input.

May I take issue with part of your statement:
if, you want to guide the appraisal around a "what if i develop" scenario, then pose it in such a way to illicit that response.

I would have hoped that since the whole idea of this site is domains and their sale and or development, "the appraisers", would have some type of "what if developed" type of thought process when giving an opinion. In other words some sense of "the big picture". Unless of course you guys don't develop as I do. (By the way I am a novice developer at best.)

Here's the bottom line so far on 401k (of which I own several versions all .com). And to paraphrase my buddy giles, "wont have exact searches, this is just a nice name for a precious metals company", in a marketing sense.

I didn't sell the name because personally I wanted more. I am not sure where you live but where I am you can't hide from the gold ads etc. Gold Line was the company.

I don't mind the $0 dollar appraisal. It is an opinion. I don't expect you to have the exact same thought process as me when I registered the domains. But because I defended my thought process showing over a million local searches for the first phrase/word of my domain name (Exact was 250k or so)... and how I thought it could be a winner...

What I do have issue with is the lack of respect that is put out here unless you are "known". You think your little joking comments help anyone out? They don't. We don't come to these forums to be discouraged (even though with get discouraging news) by your fucking smart ass comments and jokes. And I don't see what's wrong with calling out asses that are like that.

Telling me to read the newbie section because you sold a name for $7k and because I stated a reason for my thought process in buying a domain. I didn't mind what gilescooley said regarding the value, but to tell me to read the newbie section... and then he get's pissed because I applied the same valuation tactic that he did on his domains. Get the hell out of here.

And as I said, I am a newbie here, not to domaining. Been buying for 5+ years now. Just haven't sold any because I am just now moving to liquidate for the right prices or situation To me it's like real estate. Buy and hold until the market demands it be sold.

And not to mention this other insightful post:

This domain is just as bad as the advise it gives...$0.00 or in gold terms FOOLS GOLD!

That guy is another ass who's advice I wouldn't pass to my son.

So you see, it's not the fact that you guys gave a low appraisal, it's the lack of respect and professionalism. I have been reading such bs all over this forum.

So far Biggie, you're good in my book (if that matters) because you show a level of respect and professionalism and I would like to thank you for that.

Once again let me say thank you for your input and opinions.

unless you present the thought process behind the reason for acquiring the domain, initially....then all we have to go on, are the thoughts that come to our minds.

domainers, do not quote gkwt numbers for "part" of the domain, we quote numbers for the "entire word or phrase" that was registered.

that is the difference in trying to accept your thought process, because you based it on an inconclusive result, when only presenting numbers for "401k".

in that respect, how can you get "pissed" at the responses?

What I do have issue with is the lack of respect that is put out here unless you are "known". You think your little joking comments help anyone out? They don't. glad i'm even in the book.... :)

but we all should be good in your book, as i don't think any members comments are intentionally meant to offend or alienate.

i make conscious effort to be respectful by not using derogatory terms to describe the "person" who is seeking appraisal.

any comments about the "domain" should be taken seperately, as constructive criticism.

Again, Good Luck!

I dont mind people who want reasons for appraisals, but now with you calling people "smart asses" and carrying on with f***king this and f***ing that....thats showing real class. If you dont like the appraisal, then dont ask for one

But because I defended my thought process showing over a million local searches for the first phrase/word of my domain name (Exact was 250k or so)

...and all I said was use the whole phrase if you want a true indication, again, only trying to help

by your fucking smart ass comments and jokes. And I don't see what's wrong with calling out asses that are like that.

Real nice, with comments like that, people stop being nice and polite, there are people like you on this site every week and I can assure you, they dont stick around very long

I didn't mind what gilescoley said regarding the value, but to tell me to read the newbie section... and then he get's pissed because I applied the same valuation tactic that he did on his domains. Get the hell out of here.

Just trying to show you that searches dont mean everything when buying a name to sell on and not develop, which is what you indicated you bought the name for. Dont start bagging out out other peoples names, just because you don't like an appraisal, if I wanted comments on my names, I will ask for an appraisal. Seriously, that is acting like a child "if you bag my names, I'll bag yours"...grow up man..why not go and get a "paid" appraisal, see if the comments are any different. I advise reading the newbie section, not because I sold a name, but because there is great advice there, I still read it on occassion.

And "you" are calling me an ass, judging my the names on your site, I wouldn't be passing any advice on to anyone, nevermind a family member, strange how all the "sold" names are available to hand-register now, as well as some of the names you have for sale??

There we go, people will get a little annoyed if you start abusing them for giving an appraisal

I might just "Get the hell out of here" as you so nicely requested earlier

Good luck buddy

True I did drop the f bombs, not proud but fingers and emotion prevail at times. :hehe:

You see here is where we went wrong. I was clearly in a discussion mode sharing a thought process for success and that with proper SEO and such i felt it would be successful. And let's not forget the concept (or mine at least) of "advertisement domains" basically a brandable, sellable, slogan on the web. Instead of www.whatever.com/whatevereventorproduct. I mean we are here to discuss such things... right?

Even stating that your statement was truthful. However, because I pointed out in my opinion that 5 of your domains made sense to me as viable real world usage, you took offense.

Somehow you think I didn't do an exact keyword search phrase on the domain prior to buying? C'mon man!

But no, you couldn't carry on a discussion, you had to jump up on holier than thou with "Just say "Thank you" bla bla bla like your Frank Schilling and you took time off your hammock. And that my friend is bs.

And yes, our site needs updating, thank you for the visits and clicks. Not that I need them as we are number one on google and bing and yahoo for "advertisement domains". (After the "paid" advertisements) At least if someone is looking for an "advertisement domain"... they'll be clicking our way.

To the rest of the forum, I apologize. But nowhere did I read in the "Guide for NamePros Appraisers" you had to be an ass. However, it did encourage and say you can discuss things.

Thanks again for your opinions.

Great name! $5
Fantastic! $6.13
Good Catch! $4.72
Lucky fella! $2.99
Domainer God! $1.90
There 5 appraisals, 5 Valuations, for your 5 Figure Domain

Actually it is Worthless.
You say you are a newbie here, but have been a domainer for a while.
If that is best name you have, than you have not learned anything so far.
You most likely only listed for appraisal to try to attract traffic to your "premium" Sedo listing.
As for your "I am a LEGEND and the rest of you aren't" attitude you will probably not do any good here at namepros.com..
You are not impressing anyone with your "i have been offered 5 figures" BS.
BIG DEAL, most of the guys who offered freely their time to give you honest appraisals , and you abused , have names worth 5 figures or more.
Some members here at namepros.com have names worth 7 figures, but they are still very humble and willing to treat newbies with respect and kindness.
Not me, I have little time for guys like you, that post a name, and refuse to believe their crap name is worthless.

So my best advice to you is to go elsewhere.
Where?
HELL comes to mind.

A handful of exact searches, a concept that may or may not attract clients with money to move ... I don't think this domain is worthless, and I probably would appraise it at 5 figures, as long as 2 of those figures came after the decimal point.

(If you get an $xx,xxx offer for this, thank your lucky stars and grab it.)
