domain 3 Character .Info's

The way 3 character domains are being bought up lately, my thinking was that, despite having a number, regging a few that could be construed to have some meaning, might have some potential. Whatya think?

get it eye for an eye, just having fun though if if you take a step
back and look at the history of domains and what has happened in the last 10 years its only a matter of time before even the numbers and letter are taken in all of the tlds.. like a prymid my friends.

Thanks for input. I did check out some of the NLL for other tlds, and it looks like their success/usefulness is a little spotty. 4NY.com, for instance, points to 4NY.4anything.com. 4NYC.com seems to be fairly solid.. Some resolve into good, active sites, while others (ie4DR.com), are parked and 4Sale.
My first extensive look at "4.example" web addresses was fairly suprising- didn't expect that genre/form of name to have been so heavily mined.
These names are a good example of why I like info and biz, (to lesser degree) so much- they read well. Excluding .com , (which through familiarity and use, has established it's own meaning and is an institution unto itself), if you were looking for info on a subject, (the major activity on the net), what tld would read the best to you?

yah thats true , though they could get eaten up by monsters very quick all it will take is recognition by some billionare and all of them are gone over night and the price well ???? jsu a matter of time i say

we saw it happen last month with the LLL.info one night thousands of them then goneeeeeeeeeeeee ... then the last three chars .com 2000 left then goneeeeeeeeeeeeee.
do you see a highper link to you see whats coming??

true, 25M+ 3 char .infos is alot. I don't expect alot of immediate value out of these, although I think $2-$5 is a little skimpy. Do you think there is any value at all in 3 letter names that are abbreviations in any tld? ie any value difference between zq6.com and go2.com? ch7? 4ip? 4xp?

I am really sort of curious about what the thoughts are on 3 char names that are constructed to stand for something. I think good, useful LLL acronyms are generally the best (excluding full words, of course) for3 char names, but if the choice is between so-so drops and NLL that say something, I opt for the latter to get some 3 char DNs I can live w/.

there is no other three pure letter chars available now
so thats why we are here now discussing. no emmediate value of course or they would be gone, thats why the big dogs arent selling. uhhhhhh sighh

3 letter combos may be okay for a $6-8 over reg to a personal user, but I now avoid them completely. For that matter there's nothing wrong with a 100% markup. I had some I thought had meanings a few years ago, mostly with state abreviations like ky9.com, mn7.com, or FL3.com etc. I only got about what I paid for them, and even let a couple drop. If you are agressive, you might find buyers, but I prefer names that sell a little easier with commerical value. The problem with number/letter combos is they are mostly for personal users for short email addresses and low budgets. For non-dotcom, you are then even further down the desire ladder.

I do still have b8e.com because it phonetically sounds like my last name (Beatty). I've never used it, but still can't seem to let it drop. I paid about $60 for it on afternic just at the tail end of the dot-com boom. It's nice and short, but really only has meaning to me. Others may not remember it as well, or may confuse it with b80.com which is phonetically similar. I have opted for longer real word domains, including my surname in the .us domain.

I picked up some info along the way that short was very popular in China and aome other counties w/ non-Latin alphabets and was probably influenced by that trend. Also, although branding is a prerequisite, short has the strength in the recall/memory area..

But, I agrree,. .info does push it down on the waiting list, and at this point, these names are not going to sell for anything substantial. .coms w/ same/similar names don't appear to be doing anything spectacular on the net, at least the ones I've seen, so looks like this is a long term investment. Still, I find these names to be attractive for future information portals.

Again, appreciate your insight- had never had the L w/ N 3char name market laid out like that before.

There are some signs this is starting to change as we have noted in our weekly domain sales reports at DNJournal.com. In the past 3 weeks we have had these sales:

M4A.com $3,200
RX8.com $2,950
