That's basic auction procedure. If you go to ebay, they *tell* you if there is a reserve. Same with any other auction place - no mention of reserve means that there isn't one. You don't assume the reverse.

Anyway, of course no one can force the seller to part with his valuable domain, and there will be no banning over a faulty auction like this. However, posting a negative trader rating would be appropriate, as this was a failure to adhere to NP trading standards.

We don't ask you to read the rules every week, naturally; and when there are major changes we normally announce it with some fanfare. What we do ask is that you observe other people's auctions to understand how things are supposed to work.

Grrilla, you just added that rule.
Are we supposed to read the rules every week?
The rule was added as a result of this auction. I assume the rule was not already in place, because matters of common sense usually don't require explicit rules to govern them. If you went to a store that was having a sale on an item that you have been dying to get, you pull the last one from the bin, and bring it to checkout, I'd like to see the expression on your face when the storeowner tells you that he wasn't going to sell it to you because he wasn't getting what he wanted for it. He had a "personal reserve" that he had put on it.

There is a structure and system of rules that are fairly uniform from auction to auction. One rule that is applied at every auction that I am aware of is that there is no reserve price unless a reserve price is stated in the terms of the auction.

It IS implied in the readme: "Please complete all transactions at their conclusion for the stated amount and make note of this for all future listings.", the addition is a verbose description, or further clarification, if you will. ;) Just as a side note, one thing I believe most experienced traders will agree on is that "Reputation comes first. And second too".

If there was really such a thing as common sense,
would 50 million people have voted for John Kerry?
