analysis 156 ccTLDs (Country-Code Top-Level Domains) Analyzed Individually

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
I just completed analyzing 156 different ccTLDs (Country-Code Top-Level Domains) individually and figured I would provide a quick reference to all of them to make it easier for everyone to find that may be interested in learning more about a specific ccTLD or that may want to stack my research with their own.

Important:
  1. I focused on the first-level ONLY and not second or third, to remain consistent.
  2. I ONLY focused on ccTLDs that are available to register without having to have residency or a business in their country, which is more suitable for domain investors from all over the world being able to invest into them, without restriction.
  3. I excluded ccTLDs that did not meet the above #1 and #2 requirement to be analyzed.
  4. I can always add a new ccTLD analysis later if/when it opens up the 1st level and removes residency/business restrictions. if that should happen, please post in this thread to let me know so I can look more into it and get it added.
The tabled list bellow contains the 156 different ccTLD's I analyzed and each 1st-level ccTLD is linked to their individual analysis.

Tip:
If you right-click the ccTLD link and then select "Open in new tab", you can keep this list easily accessible to reference when you're ready to review a different ccTLD analysis.

With the above out of the way, here's the list so you can dive right in...

Anytime!

I'm now continuing on the gTLD analysis (As we speak/type) and will have a fresh one of those rolled out within the hour ;)

Thanks for the list! Looks amazing, going through it now. I noticed it’s missing .ch - is it for any particular reason?

.ch actually had some restrictions and I only focused on ccTLDs with no restrictions, so anyone anywhere could register or own one.

Note: No Swiss citizenship or residence is required to register a .ch domain name, However, non-resident registrants must provide an authorized contact in Switzerland to receive official or court documents on their behalf if requested by the SWITCH registry. This contact must return the documents within 30 days, or the domain may be deleted.

I’d say it’s not really enforced. But yeah, makes sense.

Also such a large research seems it didn’t attract many comments. Weird.

Appreciate your detailed analysis, Eric!

It’s a valuable resource for understanding ccTLD performance and regional trends.

Maybe, but since it could happen due to their current policy, I didn't include it.

I learned a lot while doing it and even acquired a few domains in the process πŸ˜‰

Now to see what I learn and acquire doing all the publicly available gTLDs. πŸ₯³

Perspective: The first analysis was done on Jun 8th 2025 and the last one was done on Nov 8th 2025.

That's 5 months ( 21 Weeks + 6 days /or/ 153 days)

That's a lot of consistent/dedicated research, which resulted in only 6 domains being acquired by me in that time.

The bottom line is that domain investing is not easy, or everyone would be doing it.

The good news, is that I did the first part of the ccTLD research, now one just needs to combine that with their own research into specific niche market segments to give them a head start.

Here's some questions to stimulate thought processing to help form perspective.

Questions for you

  • How many domain investors do you think dedicate that much time, just to acquire 6 domains to test different market segments?
  • Do you conduct in-depth research or just acquire what sounds good to you?
  • Do you take language barriers into consideration when acquiring a ccTLD?
  • Does the population of the region the ccTLD is in matter to you?
  • Do you only focus on ccTLDs that work as short single-word hacks (Before and after the dot)?
  • What about acronym hacks (Word before the dot and ccTLD as an acronym after the dot)?
Have a great domain investing adventure!

Thanks, keeping my fingers firmly on the pulse of the industry helps me as well as everyone else :)

My TLD analysis not only allow others to stack the data with their own research, it helps me better my own investing methodologies and increases the accuracy of the professional appraisals I do (daily sometimes) by combining TLD analysis (after the dot) with the before the dot asset combination(s). :)

@Eric Lyon Do you skip the .it Tdl on purpose for any reason in your analysis?
[ Just curiosity, no arguments @ all ]

I only focused on ccTLDs without restrictions, so anyone, anywhere could invest in them without limitations or inconveniences.

To register a .it domain, you must be an adult with citizenship, residency, or a commercial headquarters in the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, the Vatican City, or the UK. Other individuals and organizations can use a third-party trustee service to meet the residency or headquarters requirement.

Even though there is a trustee option, it adds a layer of complication to the investment process, so I mainly skipped ccTLDs with residency restrictions, even with trustee options after doing a few in the beginning and deciding against doing more moving forward due to the extra layer of inconvenience.

Note: if that should change and they remove restrictions, i would be happy to analyze it ;)
