Hi everyone,

I have just acquired the domain name

147.TV

I remember defaultuser saying that this was an interesting number name, and I have been researching 147 on the net quite a bit.

I do like this number especially as it has a meaning in the snooker world, like defaultuser said in a previous post.

I noticed that 147.com is a snooker site, which never seems to be working for some reason.

However, the interesting thing about 147 is that the Com and Net versions all have 8 or more bids for them in the past ,re: sedo.

But the very interesting news I found out about 147.com is that it has had over 25,000 hits a month on a blank page.

I found this out in the whois history section. http://www.domaintools.com/historic-thumbnails/147.com

Has anyone any views about 147.tv

Thanks

If I had personally had a snooker site it would have been top of my list. I liked it enough to immediately check this thread :)

Snooker is struggling right now - lack of venues at the amateur level and dearth of sponsorship at the higher levels. But that's in the UK....

It's more popular in China now than it has ever been and they always like the nnn.

I think it's an interesting purchase and could be a good one.

I went the other way and regged Felt.TV instead (as I could apply this to billiards, snooker, or even poker or crafts) :)

Thanks default for your feedback.

I hope you do not mind me pinching your number domain TV:blink:

I have just put up a basic web site to see how many people actually hit it.

I certainly hope the China market likes this one, although I would like it to be used in the UK if possible.

I must admit, I would love to see the BBC use it for their screening of the world championships.

Oh, well, you can live and dream.

Take care and thanks again.
Does anyone else have any views for this domain?

I don't know that it is really anything special, the number is used for snooker, but pretty much every 3 number combination is known for something of reasonable significance. Having 8 offers on the .com or .net is hardly startling for a name like that (there is a strong collectors market for any nnn.com) and the reason for the traffic is obviously development.

Doesn't sound like it was really at the top of your list then. Pretty good example of why people don't really need to pay a premium very often in the .tv space.

The question and merit is based on the strength of connection between that number and the meaning.

147 is IMMEDIATELY associated to snooker by people who play the game.

180 is IMMEDIATELY associated to darts by people who play the game.

911 is IMMEDIATELY associated to Emergency services in the US (and soon to be UK I believe)

Some numbers aren't so obvious... 719, 238, 347 mean what? To Who?

and the reason for the traffic is obviously development.

I'm curious at how you established this. Seriously.

Can I have my list back.

Because the traffic being claimed is higher than the number of searches per month, that does not happen from people guessing there might be a site on it.

Is there any chance that the hits are due to type in traffic?

I myself have typed 147.com into the address bar 10 times the last 24 hours, because the name is so easy to remember, and it is quicker than letting google find it for me.

Could this be the reason snoop, or are these figures included in the monthly searches you talk about?

Keep up the good work :)

Great name!

But where do you see the 25.000/month hits nr?

Hi b2b.:lala:

Thanks for your support.

if you click on my link, you should see 3 thumbnail pictures of previous snapshots of 147.com.

The one on the left, which I think is 23/10/2007, hopefully will show the message about the 25,000 hits.

If not, then let me know and I will paste a screenshot.

Take care.

No, that was my point, the claimed traffic is higher than search numbers, natural traffic is typically a tiny fraction of search numbers. This isn't the type of name that would get 1000 uniques a day from people guessing at an address because of the popularity of the term, in fact the number of domains like that is extremely rare, for generic names I doubt it is more than a couple of hundred names. Those names would be mega keywords, where everyone knows it is a big term.

I myself have typed 147.com into the address bar 10 times the last 24 hours, because the name is so easy to remember, and it is quicker than letting google find it for me.

Not sure I understand this, you typed in 147.com ten times in the last 24 hours for reasons other than seeing the name in this thread?

Hi everyone,

Kim :santa:

Thanks for your help snoop.

I did not realise the type in traffic was only a small amount of the total hits for a site.

I notice snoop that you seem to have miss- understood my motives for typing in 147.com.

The reason I typed it in so many times was to see if the site was up and running yet.

Your post has made me think of a couple of questions for the group though.

The first question is, “when people talk about search figures” are these figures only relevant to the main search company Google, or do they include searches from other search engines, which I thought would be unlikely, but like I say, I am curious to know.

The other question, which, snoop has made me think of, is if one person, types in let’s say 147.com, or even 147.tv (only kidding) 100,000 times into say “Google”, over 4 weeks for instance, would this show up as 100,000 searches for this term, or do search engines realise it is from the same computer, (which I would imagine they do).

Can anyone confirm this please?

Sorry if this seems a stupid question, but snoop did make me think of this regarding my own 10 x for 147.com, (which I promise was, purely to see if the site was yet working? does anyone else do that to a none working site?)

Thanks all.

Love your site lots.
