Highways.com is an industry defining domain name, here is an example how much highways contracts go for:-

The domain is also a key domain in the automotive/transport/travel industries.

I’ve received a lot of interest from investors on this domain, 2 of those very high offers, but I’m interested in what it’s worth end-user.

Appraisals on end-user value would be appreciated.

I haven’t, I haven’t really targeted end-users myself yet and I don’t use LinkedIn, it is something I need to get more involved in.

Please I'm not trying to say it is a Brand - I'm suggesting that actually a buyer wishing to use it as a brand may pay more

Great name. While I see it somewhere in mid $XX,XXX++, it feels like an asset I could see going well into the 6 figs to the right end user. Highways could sell as a brand to Elon Musk's high speed tunnels for example on the high end. Really a beauty. Good luck with it!

Taking things back to the original posters/owners post (and responses) - You must wonder why somebody would think why it may increase circulation / readers. For already specialist/limited publications. nope - Its bounty lays elsewhere.- you'll never get thanked for saying so though.

Probably my bit about electric cars and highways (as a totally wrong comparison) wasn't best said or swallowed

Just want to say thanks to everyone for the appraisals, I will be locking this thread at some point and editing/censoring the title, so also want to thank everyone for not typing out the domain in full.

There have been a wide range of appraisals from 5/6 and even 7 figures so that’s been interesting to me, I think I’ve seen enough now to give my own views and it’s hard to do this without sounding bias, but will try to answer how I was thinking when I was targeting the domain.

High street closures and everything moving online, single word .com domains seem to have a set standard price of 6 figures+ (end user), they are the most sort after assets and most difficult to buy and I don’t think it’s wrong to say there have been many mid-6+ figures sales in the last 2 years less quality than ‘highways’.

As Jag pointed out there are 4000+ companies on LinkedIn with ‘highways’ in their company name. Contracts in the highways industry regularly go for 7/8/9 figures and in the billions per contract, so if companies in the highways industry are dealing/competing for that amount of money on a daily basis, if I was targeting anything less than 6 figures for the domain just on that alone I would be devaluing my asset greatly.

But as already talked about highways is also key domain in the automotive industry. 1 company have got both of the best domains tied down in that sector in ‘cars’ and ‘auto’ the next best single words if a company wanted to brand around a single word in the auto industry is ‘roads’ and ‘highways’ and there have been debate in this thread which is better in that case. But there will be many companies who will want to brand around a single word domain in the auto industry, who won’t deal with a car valued below $100k, so if that’s the case and as the aim for these companies to sell cars to put on the ‘highways’ again I would be devaluing my asset greatly if I sold for anything lower than 6 figures.

Transport probably excites me more about this domain though, again monstrous industry and in my opinion 'highways' is quite possibly the best single word on the market in this sector (lorries travel up and down the highways continously), then you have public transport (buses), perhaps even the next Uber? And the domain is also a key domain the travel industry.

As said I have already had mid-5 figure offers from investors on this domain with view to seeing a ROI (I may have also paid that myself). I probably could set up a site offering a custom e-mail of first name@highways dot com and earn 5 figures+ per year on that alone from highway/transport companies, so unless something happens drasticly in my life (financial wise) i am targeting more than 5 figures on this domain (not going to say how much). I hope people can see my way of thinking above.
