Highways.com is an industry defining domain name, here is an example how much highways contracts go for:-

The domain is also a key domain in the automotive/transport/travel industries.

I’ve received a lot of interest from investors on this domain, 2 of those very high offers, but I’m interested in what it’s worth end-user.

Appraisals on end-user value would be appreciated.

various kinds of highways as @Samer mentioned above makes this domain a high stakes piece of digital property.

I would go so far as to saying a masterpiece. Alot of people say singular not plural, but some words just make more sense being plural like this one.

If you look at the appraisal tools youll notice one thing in common:

they dont go high enough with this one.

godaddy appraisal: $20014 (come on why not $25000 or more?)
estibot appraisal: $63000 ( getting there)
nameworth appraisal: $250000 tier 1 prime real estate.

I like nameworths appraisal but it doesnt get it exactly there imho.

Hi thanks mate, yeah it is a flexible name, must admit not thought about education for the domain, but as Samer mentioned above, highways are the internet/network that connects us in a physical sense, so can see the way of thinking there (connecting students to various teachers around the world).

I do think the main target for the domain would be the highways sector though and automotive/transport industries and possibly travel. I do think it would make an awesome brand for a retail giant too, for example I can envision a retail giants delivery trucks traveling up and down the highways around the world with ‘highways.com’ on the trailer.

Also probably over thinking things, but last week I also thought about cannabis domains (I think they are quite popular?) and wondered if the domain could represent that market if a company in that sector was looking to brand around a single word domain?

High-ways (different ways to get high?), I don’t know enough about that market though and as said probably over thinking things.

Road dot com is just a redirect to Thimble. What did road dot com sell for? Any way to find out? Highways is worth less than that four letter domain would be one way to look at this.

Also, roads dot com is for sale. Find out what they’re asking, and then assume that highways is worth less.

Hi mate thanks for your comment. I may be bias, but I’m trying to answer this from when I was trying to acquire the domain.

I thought about ‘roads’ (plural is better than the singular in this case) and I thought ‘highways’ was more brandable and business oriented than roads.

I’m sure everyone could have different opinions though on this.

In general you can’t assume that a one word four letter domain would be worth less than a seven letter one word domain where both might have the same or similar meaning or application. Same would apply to five versus eight letters.

Still you should find out what roads dot com is selling for since it is for sale right now. Whether you think your domain is better or not any potential buyer is going to consider roads.

I know i said i wasn't going to bump this thread again myself, but as I'm sure many will know there's recently been a 6 figure automotive related domain sale in ElectricCar dot com for $180k, brilliant sale!

Love hearing about sales like that being in control of Highways dot com, which i believe (that is for you to decide) is a key domain in that sector too.

Any more appraisals on this domain appreciated.

That said it's a very nice name, and as some have mentioned possibly good for a brand (way forward) I don't have a clue what your offers are to date but I would be surprised if they exceeded mid XX,XXX

ElectricCar is an automotive domain, highways is also an automotive domain, so I think me mentioning it in this thread is relevant.

I also respectfully disagree with your analysis that ‘highways’ is a brand, ‘highways’ is more than a brand, it defines a whole industry/sector, there have been 2 new trading bodies launched this month for example called:-

The Highways Sector Council (HSC) and The Highways Industry Alliance (HIA)

I don’t like mentioning offers I’ve received publicly, but the domain received several mid-5 offers just from advertising the domain in the 'top domain' section on NamePros (when i had it in there) from investors.
